Re: How to put LiveCode in the hands of more teachers/studen
Tore: I think it would be a good idea to see if a strategy could emerge from the folks that are reading these postings. Personally, I'm re-building a lot of the software I did in Director, for a large college level oceanography class. My work contains several ways I could break out a "framework". If...

Re: How to put LiveCode in the hands of more teachers/studen
A few more possibilities: In education, there are some commonly created kinds of applications that teachers would be inclined to create. A set of frameworks for these kinds of apps has the potential to entice them to try livecode and to become more advanced livecode users. I've made a list below and...

Re: How to put LiveCode in the hands of more teachers/studen
I'm re-posting this from the listserve. Tore, Your idea has a lot of merit. In the early Apple days, HyperCard was very popular with educators. It was simple and revolutionary as a programming environment, and free with the computer. Livecode has the capability for this now, especially with the widg...

The link to the zip file for the dropbox lib is non-functional. Do you have another one?
Thanks for the contribution!

iOS sound recording
I'm pretty new to iOS development and don't see any tutorials on recording audio. Do I need to use the mergAV external to record audio? Are there other choices? mergAV looks very powerful, but perhaps overkill for audio only. It's unfortunate that livecode does not seem to support more than just the...

Re: About Educational Outreach
What I'm thinking about is a complete lesson module that will cover a topic, with various activities that a teacher can specify. Results will get transmitted to the teacher either through an email, or preferable on a database that can be accessed by the teacher. I am very much in favor of students w...

Re: About Educational Outreach
Max: Here is a link to a module in a project I'm working on. I'm using it as a framework for a larger project that will allow capabilities to be easily added. The link refers to the data access module for investigating data that supports the theory of plate tectonics. I plan on adding content module...

Re: About Educational Outreach
Wow, Max, what an introduction! It sounds like you've had great success teaching livecode to your students. My own interests lie in creating learning tools using livecode, rather than teaching the use of livecode itself. However, I'm sure both interest tracks will result in engaging discussions, per...

Re: About Educational Outreach
Richard, I think this is a great idea. I have lots of ideas about how LiveCode can create useful educational support technology and it will be quite interesting to interact with others about the technology, pedagogy, and subject matter. I've had quite a bit of experience creating and using apps crea...

Re: Multiplayer game tutorial?
This is great info! Thanks. I'll check out these resources. I was thinking about the game being an app with a server handling the communication. I have a vps with liquidweb and should be able to open sockets at will. I have the LC server installed as a cgi, for testing. I didn't want it to interfere...

Re: Screen Refresh Command?
What is the best way to force a screen redraw? There ought to be a command, if there isn't one, that forces a complete screen redraw. This is important when doing snapshots of screen changes that are coded.
