Re: Problem Saving and Loading Data
Thanks for the suggestions, mwieder. The comment about setting the mainstack of the separate file to itself: If its mainstack is set to the main application stack, then it's a substack of it, right? So I set the separate file's mainstack to itself--so it's not a substack. That works in the other app...

Re: Unlock screen with visual...
Isn't it wrong in the Visual Effect entry that I quoted above? And what about not having quotes around the effectName in the dictionary? It throws an unquoted literal error.

Re: Unlock screen with visual...
My documentation (dictionary) in LiveCode 5.5.1 for Mac OS X tells me this in the "visual effect" entry: ------ Summary: Adds a visual effect trasition. Examples: visual effect dissolve go next card go next card with visual effect zoom close with sound "Cheers" on mouseUp hide me show me with visual...

Problem Saving and Loading Data
I've got another LiveCode file that's been saving and loading data in the development environment and as a stand-alone for over a decade, and it seems like I'm doing the same thing with this new problem stack, but I can't get it to work. My goal is to get changes to the field "NotesField" of the car...

Controlling Printers and Scanners
I'd like to create a LiveCode desktop (Windows/Mac, not iOS) app that can tell a scanner to scan a user's ID card, can get the image from the scanner, and can tell a label printer to print. In other words, I need to interface with the scanner and with the printer. I don't really know where to start,...

Re: Background Image Bug Still Unsquashed?!?
I checked the ID with each image I tried, and in each case it was the correct ID as assigned for the background fill of the "Tabs" button. In addition to the GIF, I tried a PNG (PNG-24) and a JPEG. None displayed as the background pattern in a Windows standalone. I made a button so that, while in th...

Re: Background Image Bug Still Unsquashed?!?
I found this post about a similar (if not exactly the same) problem just a few inches down from mine: http://forums.runrev.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=8950 (titled "Images not displayed in standalone"). Noelle's solution doesn't work for me because the "Copy Referenced Files" checkbox is already...

Re: Background Image Bug Still Unsquashed?!?
I guess I lied a little bit. It's not a background image. It's a "Fill", assigned in "Colors and Patterns" of the Inspector for the "Tabs" button, which is on a background group. The referenced image was imported as a control onto a non-displaying card in the same stack, and it's a GIF. It's a tall,...

Background Image Bug Still Unsquashed?!?
I just upgraded from LiveCode 4.5.3 to 5.0.2. I've had trouble with background images not showing up in Windows standalones for years, but I thought surely this upgrade would put that behind me. No such luck. http://portal.rockdale.k12.ga.us/schools/fse/Documents/ForOtherSites/MacOSvsWindowsBackgrou...

Re: Submitting App to Apple Store
Has anyone answered Danny's request?: Can you explain how to get a LiveCode program into XCode and be able to navigate the steps in the link above or solve the impossible error that we are all having so much trouble with? I thought I was all through and had my app uploaded to iTunes Connect with App...

Re: Problems with Standalone
Okay, I'm still trying to solve the problem in which the standalone window has the bottom 30 or 40 pixels cut off, and I noticed another anomaly with the standalone: one of the checkboxes appears to be "selected" with the rectangle of black squares around it--as it would appear if I selected it with...

Problems with Standalone
I’ve got an app I’ve been working with for years. I hadn’t compiled it into a standalone for maybe a year or more. It works fine within LiveCode, but now I can’t get the standalone to work. There are at least two symptoms: The standalone’s window is cropped short on the bottom. It’s missing about as...
