LiveCode 5.5.5 just went gm and should start appearing in customer accounts very shortly. This fixes the issue and has been back ported for 5.5. license holders. You cannot use the Commercial version of MobGUI in the Community Edition. It is a password protected stack and incompatible with open source. The vendor is working on a Community Edition compatible version.

You need to create a native Android player using the mobileControlCreate command. The player object in the IDE is for desktop only.

That is correct. You cannot mix closed source and open source code. If you are using closed source of any kind in your app, you need a license.
