Re: Updating mySQL with Datagrid data
Hello My problem is similar to the original problem in this thread, so I will post my question here. Rather than a datagrid, I am having no success in updating the first field of each group of six groups within a containing group named "digest." My database is a MySQL database accessed via WAMP. I d...

How to use LC Server to run a Chat app on a LAN
I am a relative beginner in LC and really untrained in networking applications, and just want some confirmation that what I what to so is feasible and a pointer or two about how to begin. The IT dept at my office gave me permission to use a local only server for my primary LC standalone desktop appl...

Re: Location of the live code-server file on cPanel
Thanks ClipArtGuy. The correct extension of ".lc" was what was missing. The journey in LC Server begins.

Re: Location of the live code-server file on cPanel
Hello I don't know whether this question belongs here or in the beginner's forum. The question of this subject does not seem to have been answered. I too have an account with livecodehosting.com and have read that LiveCode Server has been pre-installed, but my search did not confirm that it is there...

Re: Code for a wizard
Thank so much for your replies, which suggests what should have been obvious to me. But rather than using separate mouseup and mousedown handlers, it seems that I can just open the wizard substack with an external button, let the user click in the field to set the location of the footnote reference,...

Code for a wizard
In my application I want to use the wizard technique in guiding the users in the process of creating a footnote for any given statement in a unlocked text field. The plan is for the user to click a button that opens a substack, which is the wizard. The first card of the wizard tells the user to clic...

"Can't open file" message
Has anyone gotten this message when trying to update from 2.5 to 2.5.1, using the Update Alert box that opens when I open LC? I don't understand how to fix the problem so that the plug-in can be updated. Thanks for your suggestion(s).

Re: No text entered in fields upon keypresses
P.S.
I am thinking now the cause is not the script, for why would selecting and deselecting any object on the card allow me to type text into a field. Even switching to edit mode and back to browse mode fixes the problem.

No text entered in fields upon keypresses
Hi I have encountered a problem in my project that I can't fix after trying solutions on my own. In the IDE, when I go from one card to another for the first time and type in an unlocked field that was given focus by script, or click in an unlocked field, text appears normally as I press keys, but w...

Re: PDF search
As a followup to the previous post I would like to ask for a little bit more information about how one can search epub documents within LiveCode. My LC app is the front end for thousands of PDFs. I manually put data about each document into a SQLite database. A search for relevant PDFs is done by se...

Re: Checking whether external image file exists
Darn! I now remember I had the same problem months ago and learned the need for brackets! I even noted somewhere that the dictionary entry for "there is a " should be revised to mention the the need for them (unless you use the alternative method). Thanks for your help, Klaus.

Checking whether external image file exists
Hello LC developers: I have having trouble writing the code that checks whether an image file exists in a folder. Using Windows 10 and LC 8.1.1. Let's say the image is "cat.png" and the image object on my card is image "animal." The following code for checking the existence of a folder works great: ...

Re: Use of Mac OS in developing app for a Windows network
Thanks, Craig, for your reply. If I understand the term "deploy" correctly, it means in the IDE you can convert the application to a standalone for a selected platform, but I know you can do that. My question is different. If I am just developing in the IDE, before deployment to a standalone, and, u...

Use of Mac OS in developing app for a Windows network
I must replace my Windows 10 laptop with a new laptop. I am writing an application that will be deployed to a Windows network. Before my laptop became unavailable, I worked in the IDE both at home (Windows 10) and at work (Windows 7). I sync'd the files daily with an external hard drive so that I co...
