Re: Arrow Keys that actually work in Livecode 8

It is fixed and merged and the fix will be included in 8.0.2-rc-1 as soon as we can get that out.

Re: Wrong logic of the target (for events)?

This is because you have synthesised the 'mouseUp' message with the 'send' command - 'the target' is changed by the 'send' and 'dispatch' commands to their target while they are executing. I do think that information is missing from the dictionary entries of both 'send' and 'dispatch' though. You ca...

Re: fastJson Lib 1.1.0 Released

Hi Bob!

Are you able to attribute the significant speed boost in the LC 8 Array To JSON with the complex JSON file to any changes that have been made to fastJson? Or is it a result of engine improvements in LC 8?

Cheers,
Ali

Re: Datagrid contents in LC8

Hi Rob,

Although this is indeed the wrong forum, you needn't create a new thread for this - the missing contents tab has been reinstated for 8.0.1. There is an RC release out already, and the GM should be out shortly.

Kind Regards,

Ali

Thanks Richmond! I should also apologise for my occasionally grumpy demeanour, sorry about that.

Re: LC8. Ugh, on the surface

On the dictionary in general, one of the reasons it was implemented as a single web page was because we had some problems with the browser widget and controlling navigation from outside. Now that we don’t particularly have that restriction, writing parts of the UI in LiveCode around a browser widget...

Re: LC8. Ugh, on the surface

2. The 8.0 Properties palette. I mean, why completely redesign a whole component when, as far as one can tell, there have been no complaints whatsoever. Plus you also quoted me on why the new property inspector is how it is in this post http://forums.livecode.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=25526 I'm not s...

Why not file a bug report? I've only just seen this 9 days after you posted it, and it can be fixed in seconds.

Re: defining min/max and step when using com.livecode.pi.num

Because the 'angle' property is a built-in property (which is why the property in the lcb file is in double quotes), the property metadata for the widget's angle property is inherited from the metadata specified for built-in properties in this file: https://github.com/livecode/livecode-ide/blob/deve...

Re: Getting properties and active handlers of a widget

There is currently no engine function to get either of these, although they can both obtained by parsing some additional files. The complete list of handlers implemented in a widget is available in its 'interface' file. This is located at revIDESpecialFolderPath("Toolchain") & "/modules/lci/<extensi...

Re: elements VS number of lines of the keys

Hi James, Thanks for doing this! Your test stack is slightly and crucially erroneous though- repeat for each element x in tarray put tarray[x] *2 into tarray[x] end repeat x here is the actual array element, not the key. So the extra processing time you are seeing is the engine attempting to index t...

Alternatively you could use LCB's the entries of directory <directory> operator to check if the file exists.

Hi Marken,
You could do such a thing in the widget's OnOpen handler.

Re: Custom Chunk

You could *kind of* currently do this with the itemDelimiter: function countOccurrences pText, pWords set the itemDelimiter to pWords # Ensure item is not treated as a trailing delimiter return the number of items in (pText & " ") - 1 end countOccurrences although it wouldn't work if pWords was "has...
