Re: AGENT led decision tree

It's a prototype Wizard that would do everything for you. The idea underpinning this was that learning to use a computer via a WIMP-GUI, followed by learning a programming language should not be necessary for, for example, a Professor of Ethno-Botany. There are several scenarios: 1. The Prof. has to...

AGENT led decision tree

This is just an excuse for me to dig some screen shots of my M.A. Thesis out of the vaults.

However, they should make their point.

Re: Grab everything

Aah. The problem is that I clicked on one control, cloned it, renamed the clone and wished to drag my mouse with the clone following it rather than the one I clicked down on. I am uploading a stack to show what I mean: it contains 2 images; the red one is called "red" and the blue one "blue". grabbe...

Re: LEGO kit

Possibly this discussion should split into 2 threads (which may cross-fertilise each other from time to time). In my Thesis (2.5) I wrote about "ATTEMPTS AT PROVIDING END-USERS WITH A ‘PROGRAMMING-FREE’ INTERFACE" This obviously NOT the Droptools approach. The British Government, among others, is tr...

Grab everything

Today I tried this: grab group "RL" and it didn't work. This meant I spent an awful long time because I wanted to click on a group which would then CLONE itself, rename the clone (so far so good) and then the clone would be draggable and droppable without my having to mouseUp. You can get a "deeper"...

Re: LEGO kit

http://droptools.sonsothunder.com/all.irev I have a feeling those presuppose quite a lot of familiarity with how Livecode works "under the hood". They are far from bad; but I don't think they will serve either: Children at school, or Experts who want to do something computerwise with their specialis...

Re: LEGO kit

"what about something more like DropTools on steroids?" Well, I did put this in the "Teaching with Livecode" section :) My reply to you would be: well, why don't you make some sort of proof of concept thing? The more prototype interfaces are produced the more serious and informed the discussion can ...

Re: LEGO kit

HOWEVER: this is all jolly good fun and so on, but pedagogically it seems pretty dubious as it is just reinventing the wheel. If you look at the scripts in the groups "MDOWN" and so forth, you will see why (apart from the short bits that start "do ACTION") this will not lead anyone towards working w...
