Re: Do not see the new widgets in LC 9.5 DP1

You will need 9.5.0-RC1 due to a mistake in the publication regarding DP1.

Are you using Community Edition? Android Barcode Reader needs Indy at least. I think the PDF l
Widget needs Business Edition.

Re: Barcode scanner widget : very cool

Thanks Hermann I did get the snapshotMode intent already but this helps. I have been testing and playing, and have managed to brute force a view that seems to consistently work to scan a barcode on a given device, as long as no snapshotMode settings are applied, and previewWidth/previewHeight are no...

Re: Barcode scanner widget : very cool

Yes, it's a problem with all LCB stuff for me.

As far as the barcode scanner goes, can you get it to change the preview size and get any different overlay views? Or disable it? These just simply do not work for me.

Re: BBC article about HyperCard

Thanks for this Andy. I am often at a loss regarding the journalistic diligence used when some articles are produced. If you're going to write about the subject and lament its lack of successor, that suggests the writer has a certain familiarity with the subject. Anything but the most basic familiar...

Re: Barcode scanner widget : very cool

And now I am more disconcerted and less impressed. trying another test app, I get, instead of the barcodeDeted message returning data that I can access in the "pBarcode" array, I get a (really unkown how) message onscreen (like I had said "answer <something>" where the something is a numeric value e...

Re: Barcode scanner widget : very cool

That is brilliant bangkok, thank you so much. It works to show the widget straight away, where my test did not show the widget at all. I checked all the settings on my test app and as far as I can tell they are the same as yours. I have made another new test app and got that to show the widget too. ...

Re: Barcode scanner widget : very cool

Hi Bangkok I am also keen to try the barcode reader widget, but have been stumped by the very little detail about it. Could you give a little info about how to set up a basic app to read a barcode? Do you have to first take a picture of the barcode using camera tools? I have just included the librar...

Re: help with filter command

You may find that you need to adjust the wildcards and placement in the filter if you have certain patterns to keep or exclude, such as only the start or end of a line. Regex filters are possible too, but can be arcane, unless you have a handy Thierry. Not necessary in this case. Starting with LC v9...

Re: help with filter command

You certainly can filter with tabs in place. When you are filtering lines without "your-filter-string" the filter string is matched against the whole line, so unless the entire content of your lines might be "<tab>abc<tab>" then your filter fails. So you need to add wildcards to have the filter matc...

Re: Simple Standalone for a Macintosh

I thought this sounds like a path issue, as in the launcher not knowing where to find the main application stack. Then I noticed in the comments for that lesson, near the end, you will see Ivan refers to an issue on Mac that sounds like yours, and provides a solution. If that doesn't help, write back.

Anyone who isn't impressed with Hermann and his work is just pretending. DR White is super impressed, and rightly so. I am always incredibly impressed.
(I didn't even understand the original question, even in my native language. )

Re: Connecting to SQL Express (localdb)\v11

Not sure about your OS, but for Windows, a file DSN may have a problem, but you might try odbc with a system DSN.

Re: Array add column with 'days until due'

Try

Code: Select all

ROUND( STRFTIME('%J', expiry_date) - STRFTIME('%J', 'now') )
instead of

Code: Select all

ROUND( STRFTIME('%J', expiry_date) - STRFTIME('%J', 'now'), 0 )
in that part of the query

Re: Array add column with 'days until due'

I can't give demo or code with phone keyboard here, but I would suggest making the SQL query do the work and return the constructed value as a third column along with the other data. Maybe tomorrow if you haven't figured it out yourself, or someone else hasn't chimed in. But Craig is giving you best...
