If there is more than one object of the same type, the name will increment with a space and number, like this:

(new button) name = button
(2nd button) name = button 1
etc.
It will increment the name automatically?!

Re: Wait with messages, lag...

Certainly you can get some response, but you might not get the answer you need without more details ;) I think it is probably down to the fact that a wait is blocking. The with messages parameter allows the engine to generate and respond to messages, as well as some housekeeping. The wait command wi...

Re: Printing to Network Printer - no dialoge box

I don't know then, sorry. If you have just copied and pasted the script into the button and the vbscript into the custom properties respectively, then it should work, if it's going to at all. You could try actually installing the printer just to see if there is any more specific information you can ...

Re: Printing to Network Printer - no dialoge box

The button script does that replacement for you by the way. The vbscript in the custom property should keep the placeholder. It will be replaced again the second time to put the default printer back the way it was.

Re: Printing to Network Printer - no dialoge box

No, the <~%printernameGoesHere%~> is a placeholder. This will entirely be replaced by the correct unc pathname for the printer you want to connect. I "hardcoded" the printer name in the sample script, it might need to be adjusted a little, but on that line, it should turn out something like strUNCPr...

Re: Printing to Network Printer - no dialoge box

I can't test properly but there is some magic that can be done with LiveCode using vbscript, so you may be able to test and tweak and adjust the scripts below to achieve something like what you need. Say you have a button with the following script on mouseUp --first let's find what printer is curren...

Re: Printing to Network Printer - no dialoge box

I meant \\ before the hostname for the printer, thus:

set the printerName to "\\idkwvmwprn003\HL65"

Re: Printing to Network Printer - no dialoge box

I don't know, and can't test, but maybe add double backslashes before the printer name, so you are calling it by unc path?

Re: Extension of systemVersion

Try looking in the Script Editor, on the Variables tab at the bottom pane. Tick the boxes that say Show Globals and Show Environment vars. See what is listed specific to your environment. I have a feeling that a lot will depend on what has been put in the Path for the target machine so you will prob...

Re: Extension of systemVersion

I expect this severely depends on the computer environment in question, and probably depends a lot on what is in the path, but there are some global variables that might work. On my Dell laptop running Windows 10, I can obtain info from the following globals: $NUMBER_OF_PROCESSORS (returns 12) $PROC...

Re: sqlite corrupted when copied

"binfile:" is telling the engine to write the binary data file faithfully byte for byte. "file:" is telling the engine to write a text file, where the engine will interpret the line endings and match to the current platform's convention. Every time you need a binary faithful storage or retrieval, "b...

Re: datagrid form save / update sqlite

This answer was rescued from where I posted before it gotceaten by the server move: Firstly, no I am not sure what is going on. It must be that the first and fourth rows are being referenced the same somehow. I don't know if that is because of a script error, or some kind of mismatch or corruption o...

Well I have got a successful OTG connection to the Arduino using the library here https://github.com/felHR85/UsbSerial/ and following the information here https://www.allaboutcircuits.com/projects/communicate-with-your-arduino-through-android/ All is good with the setup in Android Studio, I can use ...

Re: sqlite corrupted when copied

What's the complete "put url" command you are using?
I think it sounds like your problem might just maybe perhaps be solved if you use "binfile:" instead of "file:" in the put url command? Potentially.
