Re: lock recent

I haven't used anything *recent in a long time so double check this, but I believe "go recent" will do what you're looking for.

Re: create MySQL Function with button

You may be able to. "Should" is different from "possible".

But then there's also "desirable": is this MySQL instance running locally or remotely?

Richard- I spent a few days experimenting with switching this over to styledText and found that it's just not up to the task. Was a nice idea, but unfortunately I'm still stuck with htmlText.
I'd be interested in learning where it fell short, if/when you have time.

Re: Using Livecode on iPads

Thanks for posting that, Bogs. It looks very useful as a starting point for designing the sort of environment the OP is looking for.

Hopefully he'll return to describe what he's looking for. :)

Re: Tooltips don't work if the stack is not active?

All you wrote is true and worth pondering. The pioneers of GUIs struggled with the concept of modality, and still debate it to this day. Is it limitation or focus? Is it restricting or guiding? Is it simpler to switch modes or ask the user to memorize whatever incantations may be needed to do very d...

Re: 64 bit versions of the MetaCard IDE?

It depends on what you're doing, and how you want to go about it. About half my career had been building authoring systems in xTalks. Some for medical reference info, others for professional training courseware, others for web development, and a few others besides. I rarely make everything; there on...

Re: 64 bit versions of the MetaCard IDE?

The continued existence of MC is a healthy reminder that an IDE is just a collection of stacks. So anyone comfortable making software with LC can apply those skills to creating an IDE if they like. The number and variety of possible IDEs is nearly limitless, each with its own focus: one for pro devs...

Re: Tooltips don't work if the stack is not active?

What is the rationale, in the IDE, ostensibly a development environment, of limiting the tools available to author such a stack? All tools are available to all stacks. Indeed, if that weren't the case it wouldn't be possible to make the tool palettes we're discussing. The question is WHEN those too...

Re: Tooltips don't work if the stack is not active?

Well yes, but of course I was speaking to the IDE as delivered which is how most beginners would use it  Of course. Yours was the right answer. I was just dropping a reminder of the breadth of things others in our community have typed, so if they find themselves typing the same thing over and...

booee, I like to keep up with other options. Which multiplatform scripting tools have you found that provide turnkey builds for Apple's latest OS changes?

Re: Tooltips don't work if the stack is not active?

I found it more interesting that you can right click on a mainstack, and change it to any other type, but you can't do the same in reverse if it is a palette heh. Or you can use the DeskView utility included with devolution , where just double-clicking the window proxy will toggle any stack between...

Re: Tooltips don't work if the stack is not active?

Monox18, i believe what you're seeing is normal, or at least the most common convention at the time tooltips were added to LC. If you find that a majority of apps that offer tooltips have them active in inactive windows, we can consider changing that. The implications of window focus can be tricky t...
