Hey Bernd,
It's close... and it's doing something, but it's not doing frame-by frames... at least not with mov and mp4 files. It steps the slider forwards, but the picture still sits where it is...

I know... I'm trying to find an alternative to the "play step back" command that doesn't work with all file types.
Is there an alternative to go backwards by one frame? Surely there is!

I'm trying to script a frame-by-frame function for a video player object. I don't want to use the buttons on the player, as I have other functions such as different playrates that aren't on the player object itself. I am using the following code on forward frame and back frame buttons: on mousedown ...

"play player "Movie"" works perfectly well. As does the other commands, except for play step forward and backward with mov files only. All other formats work, just not mov... If the play player command isn't supposed to work, it's not doing a good job of not working! :D What other command should be ...

And...
The "Play step forward player "Movie"" command doesn't work on .mov's. It does with avi's and the other one that used to work...

Is that a codec pack for the system? The videos play outside of Livecode, so I already have the codecs... Or is it a set of codecs for livecode. If so, why will it not play in standalone? Hi... Probably requested before... The video player object seems to be pretty glitchy (at least for me). Issues with loading file types, playing in background (alwaysbuffer), only playing audio, working at one time and not another etc. It sounds like there could be a better way of dealing with video...

Do the tutorials included, and then pick a simple project to do and hack at it.
Check with the dictionary and search the forum here for what you want to do. Most of it you will find that way. The rest, you can ask. The people here are really helpful.
