Re: Bringing Separate Livecode apps on Top via launcher

<sic>... I found that sometimes "... of me" does not work reliably when ME is referring to a stack, try with: set the systemwindow of stack "name of the stack here" to TRUE Curious, does "this stack" work more reliably than "of me"? Or is it always better to use the "stack "name of the stack" ? set...

Re: Build times

Good to know, up till now I've just been letting it go since at this stage, I may not have identified everything I might need. More learning I can definitely use though, thank you for the insight :)

<Busily downloading Craig's demo  > um, I try to never attach a standalone, but then, I rarely attach anything but pictures :|

Re: Build times

Did you ever turn off "search for inclusions"? I suspect that's where the delay is coming from. I never use that feature, and have never had any stack take longer than a few seconds to a minute to build, even those with dozens of stacks and 100+ megs in size take under a minute. Although I've never...

Re: Save custom attributes in standalone

Well, while your waiting for Dunbarx's super snazzy launcher, here is about the simplest version boiled down I could think of. This is one stack that you save as a standalone, and the other stack is just sitting in the same folder. The only other variation I can think of is exactly what Craig said h...

Slight difference indeed, here is a good read on the subject  "Font rendering philosophies of windows and mac os x"

Noted, aside from updates/upgrades, never spent much time in apt (but will a little more now) :D

Re: Setting the text style of certain words in a field

I believe the htmlText property in the dictionary may be what you want. You can set many aspects of text styling with it, including colors. Alternately, textStyle / textColor could be used. Just type "text" in the dictionary, there is a lot there :)

Re: Livecode 8 linux installer package (DEB, RPM)

Some may recognize this as the old kde3 desktop (now maintained under TDE, the Trinity Desktop Environment). This is a distro called q4os, and I find for size, speed, and a lot of other reasons (like auto-magically configuring itself for virtualbox!) a great tool to have in general. For my favorites...

Re: Livecode 8 linux installer package (DEB, RPM)

This was LinuxMint 13 cinnamon desktop (was surprised I didn't have a newer image around to test on DOH!). I should probably mention that on all the deb based installs, I use the command line, not a graphic installer - sudo dpkg -i [deb package name] I'll be grabbing 17 next, all the 17 Lm's I have ...

Re: Livecode 8 linux installer package (DEB, RPM)

I may have test Fedora(24) at a later date  The first attempt was an image I hadn't done any updates to : http://storage2.static.itmages.com/i/17/0711/s_1499807037_3299953_aec04a9c74.png The second attempt never got through updating, apparently Fedora requires more than 8 gigs to download and i...

Flexibility often needs complexity... C'est possible, mais Je cherche chaque chance pour une méthode trop simple, mais Je suis paresseux :D It is possible, but I seek every chance for a method too simple, But I'm lazy: D Ok, the french gave me flash-backs to high school, which (temporarily) made me...

Re: Detect when an android app goes to the background

Just curious and thinking out loud as it were, but is this something the focusedObject could be used to test for? (psuedo code) on mouseUp // or android equivalent, I don't code mobile... if the focusedObject is not a card or control of this stack then // probably needs a repeat loop to test with......

Re: Livecode 8 linux installer package (DEB, RPM)

Ideologically I agree wholeheartedly with your statement, however, realistically I've seen a little weirdness with certain distros, and would not automatically assume the user has done anything without checking it myself :) Proceeding down the list, my all-time favorite distro, Debian (any version) ...
