Re: Future of LC?

"disingenuous" is just another word for "lying". How do they respond to you when you address them directly like that? What benefit do you imagine could come from such rude presumption? I love Livecode, but let's be real. In the original kickstarter, they promised: We will introduce a new visual edi...

Re: Future of LC?

I agree that the Open Source version is not featured prominently enough on the home page. The only mention I see is all the way at the bottom of the page. If you click the educators button on the main page, it brings to the educators section where the free trial is featured prominently at the top, w...

Re: Can't 'Beep' on iPhone (Solved)

If anyone is looking for an open source option for converting media files, I would recommend 'Audacity' and 'VLC media player'. Both are free, open source, and can convert most media files easily.

Any of the IDEs you have pre Lc 8 I believe are perpetual licenses (anyone know the cutoff for sure?)
If I remember correctly, they switched to the yearly subscription model right around the same time (shortly after?) they went open source, which I think was the 6.x.x series

Re: Beep doesn't work in LXLE 16.04

FWIW, beep does seem to work in Ubuntu 18.04 as expected. I'm not sure whether or not this qualifies as a bug, since to my understanding, Ubuntu is the only *officially* supported distro....

Re: Scale image proportionally on resizestack

It's been a while since I did anything on the mobile side of things, but have you tried using "exactfit" instead of "noborder"?

Code: Select all

set the fullscreenMode of this stack to "exactfit"

Re: SVG and PNG Clip Art Stack

Works great here. I really wish I had seen it earlier, but thanks! I'm glad it's working for you. I think you've said previously that you tend to stay in the 6.x.x series, you should be able to get this stack working in those versions by throwing the FastJSON library into the stack script, commenti...

Re: SVG and PNG Clip Art Stack

Upon further inspection the openclipart, org API does appear to be misreporting the png dimensions as "0". The current resizing script uses those dimensions to fit the images into the boxes. I have sent an e-mail to openclipart, and in the meantime have changed the script slightly to avoid using the ...

HostM has provided a nice tutorial for how to securely connect to MySQL/MariaSQL Database from a Livecode Desktop app using a Livecode Server script on your webserver.

I hadn't seen this before. Very nice, thanks for posting this.

Re: CPanel

As a side note, If your app is going to be distributed to users, you should probably not hardcode your database credentials into the app itself, and instead use a "middleware" script, which can be easily done in LC or PHP. More info on middleware in this thread: http://forums.livecode.com/viewtopic....

Re: SVG and PNG Clip Art Stack

Hi ClipArtGuy, why did you remove your "OpenClipArt Downloader" from "Sample Stacks"/livecodeshare ? I miss the stack. H. Yes, I took it down, because in addition to the bug already mentioned in this thread in regards to the JSONimport function, a new bug has appeared across all versions of this st...
