Re: Export snapshot of group to jpg

As an addendum to Bogs' addendum, you can also set the default folder, so something like this works as well. on mouseup set the defaultfolder to specialfolderpath("Desktop") export snapshot from grp 1 to file "sample.jpg" as JPEG end mouseup the default folder can be set to any valid path.

Re: Add value of radio buttons to variable

It seems to be working as expected with the above script in the evaluate button, but only IF the radio buttons have been checked. If a group doesn't have a hilitedbutton, then it will throw an error. I think to fix this, you will need to check that there is indeed a hilited button in each group. I'm...

Re: Add value of radio buttons to variable

Thanks for the clarification Klaus. I get it now. Tobi, I just changed the button script to this in your stack, as per Klaus' advice, and it seems to be working as expected now. global VPname, neuroscore on mouseup put 0 into neuroscore repeat with x = 1 to 3 add the label of btn (the hilitedbutton ...

Re: Add value of radio buttons to variable

Klaus,

I'm not sure I understand. The line as written is working as expected in my sample stack?

Re: Add value of radio buttons to variable

Hmm...That line shouldn't be throwing an error if the groups and buttons are named and labeled correctly. I guess it's worth asking what version of LC you are using? I know you you can't upload files to the forums yet, but if you wanted to send me a copy of your stack I will take a look.

Re: Add value of radio buttons to variable

Here's a small sample stack with three groups of radio buttons on card 1, the labels of the buttons are set to the number values, again the button names should NOT be numbers . The groups are named as mentioned previously, radioGrp1, etc. The script to add the totals is in the "tally" button. The to...

Re: Add value of radio buttons to variable

This entry on radio buttons is worth a read http://lessons.livecode.com/m/4603/l/565732-using-radio-buttons It's going to be a bit tough without knowing more about what you have what you've tried, or named your groups and buttons, etc. If your radio buttons are named 1,2,3,4 ,5, you will definitely ...

Re: I can't make this work.

I'm kind of unclear on what exactly you're trying to do, but I think you were closest with the last one.
I think you're after something like this?

Code: Select all

set the htmltext of field "PostList" to (the htmltext of field "Postlist") & (the htmltext of field "TextStore") & numToChar(176) & return

Re: Future of LC?

Before complaining it's wise to do a little research. I googled "Box2D in LiveCode" and the first hit has the answer. Scroll down to the comments where Joe asks the same question. In sum, it should be out in 9.1 and they already have a working prototype in-house. I am aware of this comment, and eve...

Re: Future of LC?

Just for curiosity, Could someone provide a detailed explanation of how we could use a 2D physics engine within Livecode? Al I suppose this would depend on how they implemented it. It was apparently feasible enough that they offered it as a stretch goal. I believe what they promised at the time was...

Re: Future of LC?

The next question would logically seem to be: "Is the 2D physics engine still on the table?" It would seem most productive to address the question to the people who can answer it. I fully understand that the undertaking was far more expensive and difficult than first estimated. As you've pointed ou...

Re: Future of LC?

The sketch initially proposed would not be optimal in use. Much has been written about it; I'd write it again but I need to get to dinner soon. The short form is that it's great in tools where there is an immutable line between design and runtime, but we choose xTalks because that line doesn't exis...

Re: Future of LC?

Bonus question: Has any complex UI from any company ever had a final deliverable that matched early-stage sketches? (Trick question, since of course if it did nothing was learned during the development process.) The basic IDE UI paradigm is pretty much the same in the newer versions as the old. The...
