Re: Location on Desktop or Laptop

You Could use an API from one of the following providers. Not all of them give the best result but just try. Most of them are paid services above a number of free calls per month. For a list (but not all) see: https://rapidapi.com/blog/ip-geolocation-api/ The best result I got was from https://ipdat...

Re: A small PR rant

I agree that the LC outings and demos urgently need a revamp and simplification. But I also appreciate the speed of development and bug fixes. Although there are many things I would like and have ideas about that LC can improve on, I would vote to first: - Make the examples/demo's up to date - Inclu...

Re: Memory concerns

I agree with James, I also use arrays for data retention and retrieval. I put a few command scripts in the stack, each card and each field. After this I can add a field, just copy the code from another (or just copy/paste an existing field). The data in the field is instantly saved when someone ads ...

Re: Memory concerns

Logic dictates that a stack with sub stacks uses more memory. However, it probably is only slightly more. You could test it yourself.
Why do you ask?

Re: Windows 64bit version won't start

Strange,

I do not have any problems using LC 9.6 (RC2) in Windows 10 64 bits.
Maybe your Virus protection software is the reason?

I try to run 64 bit compiled desktop software on a 64 bit distro of Ubuntu Linux
Try the 32 bit distro.

Maybe that works?

Re: Standalone through Remote Desktop access and VMs

I am still using Revolution version 2 point 6 to develop and then create standalones (which I then distribute in many management schools and universities world wide). Might be time to upgrade to LC 9 ? Most of the RDP and graphical performance-related issues can be due to the activation or not of R...

Re: Exporting text from LiveCode

Although I would not prefer this method if it is the only option you have got you do not need the student to copy the data from a field. You can use the clipboard functions from LiveCode to do this.

Re: Barcode Scanner Widget issue

Do you mean that it does not show in your stack while you are in run or edit mode in LiveCode? Or do you mean it does not show after compiling to Android on an Android device?

Re: Group Script to Manipulate Child Controls

But LC starts to bog down significantly after a few thousand cards. That is why many use an external file to hold that sort of data, and load from there. Craig This post on how I save and retrieve data (encrypted or not) might be of interest. http://forums.livecode.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=33338#p1...

Re: Install Livecode Server on Windows with Windows Server 2016

When allowed by the provider to install on the windows server, my advice would be to use Xamp. I have worked with it in the past on Windows and it works fine, is free and there is a lot of documentation.

On another note. If you really need complex graphic chart there is another way to do this. I use ECharts with the browser Widget https://echarts.apache.org/en/index.html Downloaded the online java script https://echarts.apache.org/en/download.html And depending on what chart you need you only have t...
