MS-Access VBA and LC

Hi, anybody tried this already? I have to do some heavy database work, and instead of to do it in LC, I'd by far prefer to utilize the powers of Access. All I need to do can easily be done within modules inside Access, as functions. I'd just need to call these functions from LC, using VBScript. Any ...

Re: XML over Socket

Hi DavJans, when looking at the above linked lesson check the lower part, the "chat server". This is a great example and helped me a lot when building my own socket server. For your convenience I attached my test-client. It's a bit specialized, but should show you how it's done. Be sure to adjust th...

Re: Did I go nuts? Plz help!

Hi all, Case solved. 2 Problems found: 1.) At a certain, important, but well hidden spot in the code the specification of the path for revOpenDatabase() wasn't adjusted after a change. But this wasn't the main problem - it only prohibited to use a web shop ... Much worse: 2.) My testclient (that I u...

Re: Did I go nuts? Plz help!

Hi, problem is: If I copy out single functions/ commands into new stacks, they work well. As long as I have them in the old "program", they fail with simple string comparisons, and only partially transmitted parameters - even if I do a "save as" before, and use the new versions. And on my server, ev...

Re: Did I go nuts? Plz help!

Additionally, when I get function results in the form [Value1,Value2] it seems that only the first one is available now. So I ask for: get usrhandler(axwald,d1e0cb1a0d3b0f8079a53342215027105e41cca3) Function usrhandler, when invoked with debugger, shows only "axwald" as argument passed ... How do I ...

Re: Did I go nuts? Plz help!

Hi, and thx for reply! Yup, parts of the code works 1a when copied to a new stack. It's no strange code after all, just a simple string comparsion. But when used in my project (a standalone with an in-use stack), it borks. Reliably. 1.) I saved both stacks with other names, using LC 6.5.2 again. 2.)...

Did I go nuts? Plz help!

Hi, seems I have a problem. Have a stack that worked for months. Did a small change (not related to what comes now), and it doesn't work anymore, suddenly. It may be this is because I tried new version in between, can anybody maybe confirm? The 6.6 versions didn't really work on my Win7-64, so I swi...

Re: Android features

Hi, My wishlist for android: Sockets Record Sound Ability for app to run in background without the chance of being shut down by the OS Fully supporting this! Especially sockets and "running as background service" - whereas I don't know if it's possible at all (unkillable background app). Android tab...

Re: LC 6.6 IDE keeps locking up at irregular intervals (Win.

Hi, same here. Might be an IDE problem: All off a sudden LC "freezes". Sometimes I can close the current stack (w/o getting asked for saving), but the IDE menu/ tool palette etc. don't respond anymore. Switching to another program causes the screen to "clutter up" (parts of the IDE vanish, other sta...

Re: LiveCode vs Xojo licenses

Greetings, When we seek a return-on-investment for our work, we often think solely in terms of revenue from direct sales, but there are many ways software can be valuable beyond that. That's the way I took. (Be sure that it's not for everybody, it's just for ppl like me!) I, the meek lil' Dev out th...

Re: LiveCode vs Xojo licenses

Hi all, I may not be a typical LC user, so I'll share my thoughts with you, may you find it interesting! I've abandoned the idea of selling closed-source stuff long ago, for me as a freelancer it just doesn't make sense: I'd rarely get enough items sold to even pay the license fees for my developmen...
