Re: Forum etiquette

Personally, I still like a "Thank you" if what I have provided is useful or solves the problem. Recently there was a big discussion over at StackExchange (or was is StackOverflow??) dealing with the same thing. Eventually, it was decided that greetings (Hello, Hey, Hi, "Hey all, searched for this on...

Re: Tool tips

OK, so here's going out on a limb... What about using a transparent .png as a cursor image at the system level (can this be done on a mac?) With a pointer/cursor that is transparent, but with an outline, items under the mouse cursor will be visible. Linda could find the color that she can most readi...

Re: Tool tips

Almost anything is possible in LiveCode . . . but the question is whether the work is justified. Well, I was thinking that there must be a *single* command somewhere that tells the tooltips to pop up. Could this transparency effect not be tied to the event that actually triggers the tooltip in the ...

Re: Tool tips

One last thought on this. I'm not a Mac person, but is it possible (maybe even from within the LC IDE) to set the transparency of the cursor to 10% - 20% when a tooltip is visible or when the cursor registers a hover?

Cheers

Re: A small PR rant

Maybe you and I are both aging in similar ways, because I thought much of what you wrote was spot-on. If them whipper-snippers don't get with it, I'll whack them all with my walking frame.. AND throw my empty prescription bottles at them!!! I'll forward my comments & concerns to the powers' that be...

Re: Tool tips

Just an off the cuff (not knowing anything about anything), the problem seems to me that the Super sized cursor is covering up the tooltip. Instead of creating a huge tool tip to combat the super sized cursor, is it not possible to, if the point of the super sized cursor (or maybe some other co-ord ...

Re: A small PR rant

I agree that contacting LiveCode directly is the primary way to make the changes that I commented on, but... (again, with the three dots) Are these issues that are actually seen as detrimental, or is it just the rantings of an aging person? Maybe these things are not a concern to most, maybe they do...

A small PR rant

First, let me preface all of the following by saying that the people at LivecCode have done an excellent job in developing LC. Secondly, the community of supporters (the long time supporters that have been on these boards forever) do an awesome job pushing things forward and helping the noobs. But.....

For sure!
And how many of us will actually *admit* that our grandparents had one of these.... (who.. me???)

Re: Windows 64bit version won't start

Thanks all. Perhaps I need to do a little more cleaning out the old cobwebs - something didn't seem too happy last time... As for the Gremlin, my cousin had one back in the day - it was actually a pretty cool car to drive! And not to mention, for those of us oldies that still want to drive one, you ...

Re: Windows 64bit version won't start

Thanks bogs, It is bizarre! I tried before, but I again, reloaded a clean Win7 x64 VMWare image and installed 9.6.0 x64 - worked fine (again!) Must be something to do with ( **enter your favorite hocus-pocus expression here** ). However running LC in the VM is a little too slow. I guess I'll have to...

Re: Windows 64bit version won't start

As a small update, this issue affects the x64 Community Edition as well. https://www.dropbox.com/s/a03yv4j5oouhp4n/livecode_community.png?dl=0 Hopefully *somebody* else has experienced this... BTW, I am running Win7 x64 - and while I should think to upgrade, unless someone wants to gift a top-notch ...

Re: Windows 64bit version won't start

Hey Paul, Actually I've tried it with my AV completely disabled as well as Safe Mode. It just doesn't want to pass the first screen. Maybe someone else at LC has a thought. Unfortunately there doesn't appear to be any way to troubleshoot the startup of LC with a switch or modifier (using Shift, Ctrl...

Windows 64bit version won't start

Hey all, Not really anywhere else to post this, so here goes. Since the first release of LC for 64 bit Windows, I have been unable to get it started. The activation screen pops up and it's blank. Tried it on ALL 64bit releases, no luck. The x86 works fine. I have an Business License but LiveCode/Run...

Re: Force LC to start on second monitor

Thanks Craig, I get what you are saying (I remember looking into these IDE stacks once...) but it's a little above my paygrade at present! I was hoping for a simple "drag the window over here" type of thing. As for tweaking the startup message, I could always poll the size of the display and give on...
