Re: getting filenames
@Jacques -- I completely oversaw the property "metadata" and never used it. Thanks for the hint. Roland

Re: Offering Development from Ukraine
Stamp. thank you... Yes, you are right. There is a wealth of educated people based on top level education. I got most of the developers from the universities. It was a wonderful experience working with such groups of developers, and we really had fun. I think it would be great if it is possible to f...

Offering Development from Ukraine
Today, @Hutchboy wrote in "Re: LiveCode and HyperStudio" regarding the website of HyperStudio which states: "Our hearts are with the people of Ukraine as they defend themselves from the Russian army. Many of our talented staff live and work there, where we've had offices in Kyiv for more than a quar...

Re: Speech to Text function?
Well, I am usiing OS capabilities to turn speech into text which will appear in a field. You may define keywords that can then be recognised in the text and that may initiate scripts. I do not know how better speech recognition could be implemented. Even in talking with any other program, the input ...

Re: Dragdrop message no longer working using Win 11
I have to add that I just tested this on another computer and "dragdrop" is working.
So, what in a computer system (Windows) could prevent the message from being sent?

Dragdrop message no longer working using Win 11
Working on Windows 11 Pro Build 22000.1574 LiveCode Version 9.6.9-rc-1 Build 15600 Since two days ago, all my stacks that are using "on dragdrop" to drop files to a field that records their filename are no longer receiving the message. Entering the card with the mouse kept down and the file selected...

Re: eMail Account Selection
Correct, Kkaus. But that could open the question if a mechanism could be used inside LC to switch the default account and then use mailto: from with LC. So, for that time the default is changed, but closing or just leaving the app, it is set back to the original default. At least, it would be a work...

Re: eMail Account Selection
I just follow the discussion. On my Android phone I use email all the time using different accounts switching between them often. So, the use case is existing for many. Also, on desktop, I can switch without changing the setting of system defaults. I believe, there must be some possibility to switch...

Re: specialfolder (desktop)
Windows 10 / 11 On my Windows 11 machine I do not get the fully resolved path if concatenating with other path information using specialfolderpath("whatever") &"/foldername/foldername/filename" and storing the path in a variable. # Here is a non-working and working line in my Windows environment put...

Re: How to wake up LC more quickly after sleep?
Mmh Craig, thanks for the reply ))). You can be happy that this is fine in your environment/s.
Of course, it all may have to do with the OS. But did you never notice a spinning wheel using LC?
Kind regards, Roland

How to wake up LC more quickly after sleep?
Using: Windows 11, LC 9.6.5 (but this affects also previous versions) Hello to all When I am not attending to my computer, after some time, it goes to sleep. Then I wake it up hitting the return key. Since my LC application was open when leaving, after some longer time it does not react any longer. ...

Re: Blocking text changes in fields
THANK YOU ALL FOR THE COMMENTS WHICH ARE CORRECT. I changed the explanation of the original entry for that reason to not mislead anybody. I am sorry. It never really occurred to me that it was in fact possible to select text of a locked field even after 10 years of working with LC. I always only use...

Blocking text changes in fields
// CHANGED // Here is a little code snippet (for beginners) in case someone needs to allow users to select text and copy the selected text, but not allow any changes to the text, or depending on allowing a rawkey number to be passed but only within a certain range. This is often needed when a data r...
