Re: New version 5.5 announced - free or fee?

Lets see how long it takes RR to realize that its time to reintroduce the subscription model again as long as they refuse to setup a legally binding product lifecycle policy to define 'lifetime of a product' (if you want to come up with upgrade fees, fine, but then get a predefined schedule with upg...

Re: New version 5.5 announced - free or fee?

First lets start with the really annoying thing: Sending out mails claiming that people can download the new version by going to their account is just ***** For a UK company that by EU law is forced to stand to their advertisement thats a pretty bold step. Gayasoft and Phiasco, Did you pay half of t...

Re: New version 5.5 announced - free or fee?

LiveCode once used to be 'buy and get 1 year of free updates', that was up to RunRev 4.0 Since its called LiveCode, aka RunRev 4.5, that part got cut for anything but complete yet the update policy still is missing from the store no matter how long you search for it although it would by contract nee...

Re: LiveCode 5: Trial Download

The reason that was cheaper is cause its. It free updates for a year, only free updates for the current dot release which could be 3 months or whatever as there are no experience values nor any guarantees. Thus I used complete to get a figure per year

Re: LiveCode 5: Trial Download

a 'little' inconvenient is relative given that Live Code complete normally costs $1500 / yr / seat its more than just a little inconvenient out of my view.
If we were to talk about a 200-300 buck thing yeah, then you just have to bear with it, but not at prices in the range of MS Visual Studio

Re: LiveCode 5: Trial Download

As soon as it is compiled, right. But there is no reason that the livecode files need to be binary as they aren't compiled or the LiveCode editor couldn't open them. I understand that standalone stacks you export get compiled, makes sense as they act like modules / libraries in other language then b...

Re: LiveCode 5: Trial Download

Not sure how things could be worse than no mention at all in the release notes. Well I don't worry about better or worse. I just want to know if they want me to upgrade or not. If its still binary and not versionable the clear answer is no, as the yearly sub 3.0 - 4.0 and then the upgrade to 4.6 we...

Re: LiveCode 5: Trial Download

Thats why I'm asking as the bug with the trial system in the same go prevents me from verifying it. I don't trust release notes, they often sound better than the reality is

LiveCode 5: Trial Download

Hello I wanted to ask if you could please fix the trial system so people owning a previous version can download it too without creating 2 million dummy accounts for this purpose as its not possible to download and trial it without going through the create account page. I want to see how well it real...

Re: 4.5.3 IOS Video Playback

iOS does not offer any non fullscreen video playback (outside of the ipad) actually.
if you don't use the iOS one provided you lose hardware acceleration of movies completely, in which case the cpu hit is serious.

Re: LiveCode

So, its now another month later and I wanted to ask if there is any news you want to share on the On-Rev server. As we all know it has not gotten an update, newsletter, timeline or any kind of support for over 1.5 years, as such I would like to know what plans you have in relation to make RevServer ...

Re: LiveCode

"current" does not really apply to one from summer 09 though ;-) But I will drop them a mail to hopefully get some clarification as I've basically been forced to stop using it as its impossible to work against "unknown - works perhaps" in any productive way, especially if you are no Rev crack in gen...

Re: LiveCode

Regarding On-Rev: this is completely separate from the LiveCode product line. It is a hosting service running a version of LiveCode Server, where you can create online web pages and services in a similar way to PHP. In addition, it has a special developmpent tool for remote debugging of said pages ...

Re: LiveCode

I agree Thats the first time that I saw a technology that likely doesn't have a too large followership yet going through 2 name changes in less than 12 months, a light licensing changing to be then followed by a total overhaul to the worse ... As I see it now, we don't pay yearly fees anymore. inste...
