The site is not mine, but is put together by Cyril Pruszko. I believe his e-mail is at the top of the page.

Re: [Help]Creating a clicker game
At the risk of repeating myself, I'd like to say that this site: https://sites.google.com/a/pgcps.org/livecode/ Covers just about all of the topics that Sturgis has recommended, and it is specifically geared towards beginners making games. It really is a great resource for learning the basics, while...

Re: [Help]Creating a clicker game
But if I try to save a button and/or a label, it creates a blank .txt file. You will not be able to "save" individual buttons and labels, but you can save information about them, or even a stack containing them. You should definitely Have a look through the first eight or so Scripting Conference st...

Re: [Help]Creating a clicker game
Without knowing exactly what you've tried, it's hard to tell what is going wrong. Try this in a button: on mouseup put "this is an example of writing text to a file" into URL ("file:"&specialfolderpath("Desktop")&"/test.txt") end mouseup this should create a test.txt file on your desktop. --Sefro

Re: [Help]Creating a clicker game
It is impossible for a standalone to save itself due to the way modern file systems work, it is not impossible to save data in another form, such as a stack or text file, etc.

Re: Recently we've been investing ....[SOLVED?]
Could we (as a community) create Tutorials to teach the basic and most useful LiveCode concepts and programming techniques using prototype applications for Text Editing, Bitmap Manipulation, Vector Graphics Creation, Rich Media, Internet and Databases? I, for one, think this is a great idea. It's v...

Re: Recently we've been investing ....[SOLVED?]
Richard, I am not implying classism, I am implying that your lifetime license has perhaps insulated you a bit from the feelings/concerns that are being expressed by the rest of the community. Had I been able to afford that perk at the time of the original KickStarter, I am pretty sure that I would p...

Re: Recently we've been investing ....[SOLVED?]
l for one have nether liked or understood the reason that the product reverts to the Community version if you do not renew for another year. On Ubuntu it doesn't even revert. It tells you "Your current LiveCode account does not allow you to run LiveCode Commercial. To continue running, please updat...

Re: Recently we've been investing ....[SOLVED?]
What did the authors of those components say when you asked them if could deliver a version of their plugin that's compatible with LiveCode Community Edition? This is ignoring the question entirely. It seems that a major sticking point with more than a few users who have commented in this thread is...

Re: FlappyBird - keyup vs mouseup
I wrote this a while back quickly over a weekend while experimenting with using custom properties instead of variables. You might be able to pick it apart and get some insight, although maybe not. :D >>It's not exactly like flappy bird, but I think the movement you are looking for is the same. This ...

Re: Recently we've been investing heavily in product develop
Or you can choose to buy a commercial version from us with a commercial widget. This makes much more sense. If the new functionality is based around commercial widgets, then this seems like a very fair way to differentiate between the versions and add value for your business customers, while still ...

Re: Recently we've been investing heavily in product develop
Kevin, I completely understand that LiveCode needs proper funding in order to be a success. I also understand that you are not removing anything from the current functionality of the community version. My main concern is that moving forward beyond the release of LC8, that more and more new features ...

Re: Recently we've been investing heavily in product develop
Richard, Forgive me if I am being overly dramatic. As you know I have been a big supporter of LiveCode. I have been supportive and positive up until this point. This decision to begin to split the functionality between the Community version and the Commercial versions is a terrible idea that goes ag...
