Re: Sudo Behaviors, wise or not?

Also a self taught programmer (it shows!) and I have picked up lots of bad or non-standard habits I'm sure. but, I think that is one of the unsung strengths of LiveCode, it's not overly strict and fairly forgiving, much like my self, so my boys would tell me  so many destinations can be reached...

Re: Sudo Behaviors, wise or not?

Using the idea from your example you will have three stacks, one for each button. script "buttonTypeAnswerBeh" on mouseUp answer the name of me end mouseUp or create a behavior stack for the cards script "CardTypeAnswerBeh" on mouseUp if th...

Re: Sudo Behaviors, wise or not?

Hi Klaus Hi Andy, So what do you think? Can you see any pitfalls or problems I might be building for the future? oh, yes! NEVER EVER name your objects as numbers? NEVER ! Never would in the real world, but it was quick and easy just for the example 8), should have seen the hand slapping coming for t...

Sudo Behaviors, wise or not?

Behaviors are great but, if I have a project with lots of controls I end up with lots of separate behavior scripts and this can get a bit messy, so instead of behaviors I've started using script only stacks where I check for the target and the owner of the target. This allows multiple control script...

Re: [ANN] New Book: Development Oriented Development

Hi Andy, I hope you like the book, but I have a firm impression that nothing that I mention there is new to you. :-) There is a brief case study about TinyIDE in it. :-) Ha, you would be amazed about how much I do not know! For me it's usually the case of' I'm going to do this..hmm how do I do this...

https://github.com/livecode/livecode/mi ... 9?closed=1

Scroll down to the 4th enhancement listing [[ Bug 23030 ]] Enable WebRTC on CEF browse

Re: Stung by the Message Path! Lessons learnt..

All I needed to do was to check in the preOpenStack handler of the Main stack that the perOpenStack handler was initialized from the Main stack While I know I've been stung in the past the same way, I'm curious about something here Andy, why not just stick the openStack and preOpenStack code into t...

Stung by the Message Path! Lessons learnt..

So I was working on a project which had a main stack and a number of sub stacks, all was working well and then.. bam! my main stack re-initialized all my base settings again..WHAT! After cursing LiveCode for a while and trying to glue what hair I still have left back into place, it was time to find ...

Re: API not working in a standalone

Hi Glen, I tried the sample stack from Richard in the linked forum post, and selectively tried what inclusions were required to get it running. Try these as your base inclusions JSON Library Internet mergJSON If any of these were not included the generated exe would not function correctly. Let us kn...

Re: Big Sur?

I've seen something similar to this on Win 10 as well, so I don't think its tied to Big Sur. What happens is I do a right click to bring up the context menu in the Project Browser and the highlighted line jumps up one line and this then has focus as the object/card/stack for the context menu. Closin...

I wonder if it might not be a bad idea if, every time there is a new entry added
to announce it in one thread rather than separate threads for each addition?
Agree, probably better. I'm was getting a little bit too excited about getting new submissions
