Re: OCR?
Hi Jeff, I presume your answer is directed to me? Thanks if that’s the case, but the PDFs I had to work with were scans rather than documents converted to PDF, which makes PDF utilities useless - there is only picture data. Having said that situations have changed and this is now indefinitely on hold.

Re: Web deployment helper tool
Thanks for sharing Andreas - looks like an absolutely essential stack and as you say should have been provided out of the box... but thank you for providing a great interim solution!

Re: Using field with "answer" dialog open
#2 is the most difficult Spam to deal with, so Klaus's sixth sense is invaluable in this respect. The risk is that rarely, a valid post by new user whose first language is not English may be deleted as spam. Not great on the very rare occasions this may happen. I much prefer Richard's approach of a...

Re: Using field with "answer" dialog open
Yeh it sounds like a job for a substack to emulate the answer dialog, possibly as a palette to stay on top. As Klaus says, anything modal, like the ask/answer dialogs, will by definitely block block everything until dismissed. Having said that, this seems like atypical and strange interface, and pos...

Re: Missing Fonts
Well done on finding a workaround and sharing.
What LC really needs then is the option to choose any of the available weights. Seems like it should not only be feasible but also mandatory in this day and age….

Re: background color of text with metadata
Bernd, you previous solution is clearly superior - this kludge is fine but scrolling and multiple highlights are an issue... if having to scroll multiple highlights this would quickly escalate into a slow-grinding nightmare! I quite like what you did with your previous solution... goes to show there...

Re: How to get the icon of a file?
Sadly I got no further - and the lack of responses belies the fact that this is not something anyone else could answer at the time. In the end I created custom SVG icons for the commonest filetypes and a generic icon for 'unknown' filetypes. Not great really, but did the job more or less. I know Zax...

Re: Missing Fonts
I've also now tested on a Windows 11 system (Win 11 Home, 22H2, running LC 9.6.8 ). As previously downloaded open sans from google, open the static fonts, selected all and right-clicked to install. After restarting LC, Open Sans appears in Font menu (although only 3 typefaces) and selecting this ver...

Re: Missing Fonts
Not sure it's any consolation, but like others, on MacOS this works fine. I wondered if it may be the case that Windows version of LiveCode is a 2nd class citizen in some respects However on testing on my work PC (Win 10 Enterprise, 21H2 - I have LiveCode 9.6.9 installed on it), I downloaded the ope...

Re: background color of text with metadata
PS - It turns out that it's not just metadata that causes this. I have a '<font color="X">' tag around the verse numbers to change their color slightly from the regular black of the text. When I removed the metadata, there was still a vertical line after all the numbers which are wrapped in the "<f...

Dear Kresten - thank you for the clarifications. For what it's worth, I am Greek, so no need to explain 'oikos' ;) I fully understand it's not feasible to start from scratch - but I'm also not sure, given software usage habits of most people nowadays, how this fits in and how it will find a home in ...

Re: background color of text with metadata
I too can replicate this on Mac both with htmlText and by setting the metadata of chunks programmatically. I haven't tested Bernd's workaround (which probably works!) - but the original issue seems like a bug to me and probably should be reported... It looks like the markers for the metadata inherit...

Re: CoreLab - software for a medical research trial
Hi Al, thanks for the kind words! It’s only been used for the one study but it’s still in use. Large mullticentre study, ongoing data mining… The app’s use has been limited to this so far because of competing projects, funding but also (as you may imagine) because of complex politics… I’m slowly wor...

Re: Chi-square
Nicely done, Stam. Thanks for posting that. Back in the open source era I'd hoped it might last long enough to attract contributions for a stats lib and others. Much better than shelling out to some other language. Maybe this will inspire more. Thanks Richard. Long doubles seem to be a datatype tha...

Re: Reading and writing text to / from a file
You're fine with "RDBS" but not "RDBMS"? What did "M" do to raise your ire? Didn't think I'd need to further clarify, but since you explicitly ask: SQLite is file storage and while accessed with similar commands to RDBMS's, itself is not an RDBMS. Neither would it be "relational" in this context, i...
