Re: Rotate Button or Text

Well, that's a bummer. Makes customization of the text much more challenging.

Thanks again,
J.

Rotate Button or Text

I would like to have a series of buttons down the right edge of the screen with the text rotated 90 degrees. I can't find a property to rotate a button or label text. Little help?

Thanks,
J.

Re: Current Best Practices

We should not name LC objects with numbers, so I really doubt this is a glorious idea. 8) Add a c at the beginning (-> c102719 or c_102719) or something like that to disarm the situation. Thanks, all. This has been very helpful. Regarding number of cards, I would likely build in some mechanism to a...

Maybe something like "set the name of (your new card) to the (long/short/abbr.) date" would work?
Yes, I was thinking of converting to a numerals-only date that might simplify the ordering and any date-based calculations that may be needed.

Re: Current Best Practices

I always say that unless there is a compelling reason to go outside LC, external files, databases, whatever, don't. ... The general scope of what you are thinking about seems to me so easily implemented inside LC, that it is a no-brainer. Thanks, Craig. This makes a lot of sense. And, honestly, the...

Re: Current Best Practices

Just to throw another banana in your path, you forgot another alternative, 1 (or more) flat-files. In fact, if you made the name the date, it would be self chronologically ordering and provide easy look up, and at a couple kb a file, probably smaller than the sqlite solution :D (Just make sure you ...

Current Best Practices

I'm developing a tool to track my daily work, like a planner/journal. None of the commercially available options meet my needs. What is the current best practice on something like this? Are folks using SQL databases to retain what is essentially simple text records? Or does the community still use t...

Re: BBC article about HyperCard

I probably phrased that badly. As I understand it, Scottish government controls much of the educational curriculum, and has included LC as a language suitable for students learning to code. More than 30% of the secondary schools in Scotland are using it as an introductory programming language as of...

More work, but if it has your attention this seems a good time to capitalize on that motivation to learn as much as you can about it.
Agreed. It's actually just as much about keeping me occupied as it is creating a game. 8)

I've updated this plugin again.
A great stack and great effort to bring it back "to the masses," as it were. Kudos!
