Re: Why is LiveCode not recognized more as an app developer language?

The point being that Roblox is a free tool on their phone dressed up in pretty colours. Not even remotely as capable as LC - but then again that's not the point... for the kids Roblox is more fun that LC can ever be as the attention span and the outputs are age-matched. But instead of competing wit...

Re: Why is LiveCode not recognized more as an app developer language?

I see that tools like "Construct" or "GameMaker" are downloaded and used by very many young people. I’ll tell you what the kids are developing with….Roblox Studio. They want to make Roblox games and that tool is developing quickly into one of the leading programming tools for those interested in le...

Re: No matching ABIS?

Sorry to resurrect the thread but adding Google Play services to your Amazon tablet does not require new roms or installing some dodgy boot loader. Simply install the Google Play apks to your device - this website offers simple instructions on how to do that. Works perfectly. https://www.howtogeek.c...

I have found that with all the programming languages I have learnt textbooks don't help
much: fiddling around oneself and talking to more advanced learners has always served me better.

In this respect the LiveCode Use-List and this Forum are invaluable.

Re: Commercial product offer

Out of interest, and without wishing to upset anyone, are the number of books available from Packt on LiveCode any good. I can't seem to find many reviews as such.

Re: Commercial product offer

I would imagine the Lessons are like the Dictionary and other documentation: the value being provided is that they are printed versions of materials available online. I can't imagine they'd invest the time to make 400 new Lessons without adding them to the Lessons site, but if anyone knows otherwis...

Commercial product offer

Hello, As part of the trial of the product I was offered a very tempting offer that included a full set of printed documentation including the entire Dictionary (two volumes) and another book encompassing over 400 lessons. My question is regarding the Lessons volume - does anyone know if these are t...

Re: Zoom IDE

I think the main point here is that LC is infinitely customizable. All its parts are built with the same tools you use to create your own stacks, so if you don't like a certain behavior you can customize it as you please. Some things are more challenging than others and require you to be familiar w...

Re: Zoom IDE

Here is a postioning tool, best when used as plug-in. To use it as plug-in move it to your plugin folder in my Livecode in folder Documents and restart LC. Then access it from the development menu -> plugins Kind regards Bernd bnGuides_0_4.livecode.zip Hey that is a super little plugin. Thank you f...

Re: Documentation Database Library

Not a .pdf, but does this help at all? Database library commands and functions Or are you looking for something different? If it has to be in .pdf format, that seems simple enough to accomplish. Edit - of course, there are resources that give you the information piecemeal but expanded on, like Max'...

Re: Zoom IDE

Thanks. I don’t mean simple alignment tools like you mentioning mean dynamic alignment tools that appear when you move a field or object around like you can see here.....https://youtu.be/r1UOx0vo_Jc at around the 25 second mark. Can you configure this?

Re: Zoom IDE

The IDE needs some work in my opinion. Some strange behaviours when developing on Windows (not tried it on my Mac yet). Windows don’t seem to obey the conventional behaviours in the IDE - acting almost like modal windows in some respects by not moving behind windows you wish to bring to the front by...

maybe scaleFactor helps

put this into the message box and hit return

Code: Select all

set the scalefactor of stack "myStack" to 0.5
it will shrink your stack, 1.0 is original size and so on
Although this only scales one stack at the time.

Kind regards
Bernd
Ooh that helps. Thank you.

Re: Zoom IDE

Thanks for the response. I’ll take a look. Just seems a little odd that an IDE has no zoom in/out option. Every IDE I have ever used had this function to allow you to work on larger targets than the development environment. I’m liking the product but finding the IDE....clunky?
