Re: Using external script only stack as behaviour

I always thought that having a button as the only repository of a behavior was bad behavior. I mean, a button? A small control that has to be cradled on a card in a stack? The beauty of behaviors is that they can catch the messages of a vast array of gadgetry within one's project. To have an object...

Re: Using external script only stack as behaviour

Yes, but the question I now have is, did the "hi" message pop up because it is in the openStack handler of the script stack, or because of the behavior setting? In my previous post, I am assuming it is because of the former, not the latter :? I added “put the long id of me after msg” to the behavio...

Re: Using external script only stack as behaviour

Need to add the behavior to the Stack Files of the main stack. Behaviors do not need to be placed in front/back or have "start using" called on them. They just need to be in memory when the object that references them is opened. When the main stack file is loaded into memory, some work is done to pl...

Back to the original question: on mouseUp local tData, tName, tAge, tTitle, tCity, tCode put "Dave,46,sr. engineer,colorado,23" into tData _split5 tData, tName, tAge, tTitle, tCity, tCode answer (tName, tAge, tTitle, tCity, tCode) end mouseUp private command _split5 pData, @pV1, @pV2, @pV3, @pV4, @p...

Re: Various ways of matching a line

I would also check out the filter command. Converting to an array would be good if you needed to repeatedly go into your list and pull out values. If it is more of a one shot type of thing, filter may be faster. You can use a regex to specify a number at the beginning of a line. It can either be des...

Re: Version control – which system?

ScriptTracker is an option that I created. Ideal for a single developer that wants to keep track of changes to scripts in a binary stack without converting everything to behaviors.

Re: Collapse and expand Tree View Widget from code

That is not possible as a single command in the current implementation. You can get the fold state array and then create one that will have everything expanded. Since the widget constructs the fold state array in a lazy manner (only adds keys as they are visited and unfolded) and the entire tree is ...

Re: macOS 10.14 Mojave compatibility.

I don’t think the back end code for profiles changed but rather when the IDE was rewritten, the profile feature was not built. I have built a mobile stack that used profiles to have different layouts for portrait and landscape. Here is the issue that I ran into... profiles are extremely sticky. If y...

Re: Sprite sheets

I recently saw a demo of using a sprite sheet with a group doing the clipping and it worked well. I believe that the performance of that method is much better than you can get showing different images.

You can do both. There are several apps that I have where the free version can be upgraded to the full version via in app purchase and a full version is also sold separately.

Re: iPhone xr recommended fullscreenmode?

I think that a background pattern will fill the screen as well. You do not need to exactly fill the screen just as long as the background image is as large or larger than the virtual coordinates of the scaled screen size. My code was demonstrating that I could draw a box outline that traced the outl...

See: https://github.com/bwmilby/mobileDemo Specifically the SetBackground handler here: https://github.com/bwmilby/mobileDemo/blob/master/mobileDemo_Scripts/stack_MobileDemo_card_id_1002.livecodescript Using showAll you can set a background object a precise size to cover the whole screen. Unfortunat...
