Re: Can you set custom properties by referenced value?

Hey FourthWorld thank you very much for your comprenshensive answer. You understood very well the kind of mechanism I'm looking forward and you explanation made the situation clear for me. Since that is not built into LC, I will leave it with the current timed polling mechanism. I will reconsider th...

Has anybody worked with ONVIF devices?

Basically I just got a new IP Camera that works with ONVIF protocol. I have worked with sockets and normal IP cameras before using the POST and GET commands from LC, but this protocol seems quite complex to me as I don't know much about WSDL and SOAP. There's a LibSOAP.Rev out there, I got it and no...

Re: Can you set custom properties by referenced value?

Xero thank you for your suggestion. I'm already doing something similar. the uFlag of me is a property that is changed in another handler that gets set to true when there's actually a change on the data. dunbarx, it's true setting a property is fast but in this case setting the graphData of the widg...

Re: Writing Hex data to COM port

Thanks. I figured out the solution. I'm leaving the port Open and using wait with messages. After sending a wirte command, the device will immediately start sending data so I'm ready to read it. However, 1200bps is quite slow, so the sending process is slow and that's why I have to wait. The manual ...

Re: Writing Hex data to COM port

Hi sphere. Thanks for your suggestion. It is interesting seeing how you solved the problem using the numToChar function. I eventually opted for using binaryEncode and binaryDecode, so that I can send the whole command in 1 string, rather than writing byte by byte. The bigger problems I had were 2: f...

Writing Hex data to COM port

Hello all, I'm trying to control some HART devices by using LiveCode. Since there is no support for that I have to manually create and send data via serial COM ports. I have been able to open and close the port, and I know what bytes to write but I don't know how. This is how I open it and close it....

Can you set custom properties by referenced value?

Hello all, There's is some code I'm testing in a Line Graph widget. I use this to make the widget "live" and update it's graphData every x ms. When the data contains 145 lines, it takes 112ms average, per iteration. If I raise the number of data to 300 lines (I want to be able to display longer tren...

Re: Did the AltKey change from Version 9.0.1 to 9.0.4?

Ok thanks for the reply. I always forget to put the OS, so I will try writing it more often. This one is Windows 8.1 Pro. So I downloaded your stack and sigthly changed it to display the code of the character combination: on rawKeyDown RD if (altKey() = up) then put "up" into fld "ff" else put RD in...

Re: Improvements to the Line Graph Widget

Well thanks for seconding it. But the Line Graph Widget is not getting enough love, I think it hasn't been updated since the original post I made. I left it with the workarounds for now which is fine, and if you really need it, then apply them as well. On the other hand it seems that there is a good...

Did the AltKey change from Version 9.0.1 to 9.0.4?

I just installed LC 9.0.4 and while trying it out found that some shortcuts I had on "rawKeyDown" message, the function "the altKey" was changed from Alt (left) to AltGr (Right Alt). Basically everything I had working with Alt is now working with AltGr instead. So what are exactly the proper functio...

Setting a custom font on Android

Hello! I'm following the lesson to set up a custom password font: https://revolution.screenstepslive.com/s/revolution/m/how-to/l/249-creating-a-password-field but I get an error "Can't load font file". So, it works in the IDE and Windows standalone but not in Android. Any help? My code is on a preOp...

Re: Some design questions

Thanks for the responses guys. So it seems that the widgets are mostly for being more efficient device specific and also ensuring the app meets the Look-and-feel guidelines of the OS. Also native controls might recieve more messages than the standard controls. In this case I'm talking only about But...
