Re: Mark menu item as checked

Hmmm...perhaps what LC renders as a bullet here on Ubuntu renders a diamond on macOS. I haven't read the macOS HIG in a while; it the diamond is on spec we may be well covered as-is. Have you seen a diamond in other Mac apps? No, I have not seen the diamond in other Mac apps. I looked at a couple o...

Re: Mark menu item as checked

The diamond is from Motif. Most OSes now use a dash. A bullet may be allowed in some of those cases, but I don't think that's quite up to spec.
Livecode 9.5 is using diamond on MacOS X (in my case 12.6) in Tools menu to indicate the "Browse Tool" or "Pointer Tool"

Re: Mark menu item as checked

Bullets, Checkmarks (ticks), Diamonds, et al. Why not "go the whole hog" and have a family of terms to allow us to apply all sorts of symbols? Tics and diamonds are used in menus whereas those other "bullets" are not. It might be a tad confusing for the user in menus. however in other places they a...

checksign sounds OK,

although you could use tick.

tick is a reserved word too. tickmark would be possible.
I think I will go with checksign. Unless tickmark would be more popular. (one vote for and none against would count as popular).

set the star of menuItem pItem of button xyz

sounds strange,

May be checksign?

Re: Mark menu item as checked

@Richmond

Since 'checkmark' is a reserved name we can not use it in LC. How would you name a pseudo property of the menus instead of 'checkmark'?

I am still refining a more generalized solution to the problem and sollicit input on how to name it.

Re: Preventing duplicate input

Hi Jeff, You could use get FlushEvents() to cancel all mouse events that occur during processing. Please look at the dictionary for the details. on mouseDown put "success 2" into fld "ff" wait one second get flushevents("all") -- flushes all system events, go next card end mouseDown Kind regards Bernd

Re: Mark menu item as checked

here is a stack that sums it all up

It has some refinements over the scripts I posted above. Please use this stack.

The card script contains the working code for the buttons which just invoke that code.
