Re: Field Editor Updating dgData

Hello I too have a similar problem. I have data grid rows that get their content from an online database. I have read but still fail to fully comprehend the instructions in the LC User Guide under the heading 'How Can the User Edit Content in a Data Grid Form'. A reading of the entries in the LC Dic...

Re: Sharing and synchronziing backgrounds among substacks

Hi Craig Thank you for your reply. Yes, the groups are basically just mirrors or empty vessels, a browser widget being the focus of the group. The only difference among substacks will be changes in the loaded PDF file and its associated properties (number of pages) when the user makes a selection fr...

Sharing and synchronziing backgrounds among substacks

Hello As I understand background groups, a particular background group can be placed on any card within a stack with the "place" command or through the "object > place group" menu command. Changes in the group will be automatically reflected in every instance. But what if your application has many s...

Problem with Calculating Formatted Height of a Datagrid

Hello When I open a particular card, the message box opens with the following text: 88,3484,1 62,3484,1 69,3484,1,group id 1375 of card id 1374 of stack "Data Grid Templates 1517645074315" 241,3484,1,_list.CalculateFormattedHeight 353,0,0,stack "C:/Program Files (x86)/RunRev/LiveCode Business 9.5/To...

Re: Getting a Number Range from 1 to X

Thank you Craig and Xero Craig, your script worked. I did not think of the command "put temp into butn" as creating the list of numbers in the button, and I overlooked the use of the chunk line in the repeat loop. Xero, to answer your question, I am using the PDF browser that comes with the Business...

Getting a Number Range from 1 to X

Hello After my script gets the page number of the last page of a PDF, I need a script that (1) generates the range of numbers from 1 to the total number of pages and then (2) sets the text of an menu button to those numbers as a list, e.g., if the total pages of an PDF is 3, the script sets the text...

Creating accounts for multiple users of a MySQL database

I have a LC standalone that is the front-end of several MySQL databases on a local WAMP MySQL server, i.e., the host that runs WAMP and a MySQL server and the client machines are on a LAN. I want to distribute the standalone to each user. Using phpMyAdmin, I know I can create multiple user accounts ...

Re: Meaning and use of \> or \*

Thanks, Klaus, for your quick reply. I thought it might be a typo, but, needed some confirmation before writing a correction email to the LC Guide editor. :)

Meaning and use of \> or \*

Hi In the LC 9.5 User Guide (7/30/19, p. 111), example code is given on the use of implicit parameters. In it are what seems to be two logical operators: \> and \*. But I do not find them listed or explained in the section of the guide on logical operators (p. 124). The character "\" is a mystery to...

Status of Message Course of Create It with Livecode

I am trying to build a chat app for a office LAN and found the Hello World course of Create It with LiveCode helpful, but it seems that the sequel to that course named "Messages" has not been developed. To better state what I am talking about, a screenshot of the topics of the "Messages" course is h...

Mainstack contains itself

Running LC 9.5 Business and Windows 10. I have a mainstack consisting of many cards but also containing substacks. Recently I noticed in the Project Browser that there is listed a substack having the same name as the mainstack! Opening that substack reveals a repetition of the cards of the mainstack...

Re: Size and Position Pane - Unstoppable Incrementation

Thanks for your reply. No, checking the Resizable checkbox or trying Ctrl+. (I’m using Win 10) has no effect. Running LC 9.5 but I encountered this behavior in 7 and 8 too.

Size and Position Pane - Unstoppable Incrementation

I haven't seen or found any inquiries about a problem I sometimes experience with the size and position pane of the Property Inspector. I guessing I am not the only one to encounter it. A click on the up or down arrows to increase or decrease one of the rects will trigger an automatic process in whi...

Re: Card wont refresh after video plays

Thanks, Klaus, for your reply. I made the change in the code and it worked. The second thing I learned is when using the LC dictionary to notice for which platform the message is intended. Sometimes there is no clue in the body of the entry. The reader has to look at the first line of the book entry...

Re: Card wont refresh after video plays

This post describes my problem. I want to launch the main stack of my desktop application using a standalone named "launcher" as a splash screen. I am using the method prescribed in an online LC lesson . My standalone just has a player object and the following stack script: on openstack set the file...
