Re: [ANN] Circling Balls Illusion
And I was so enamoured by your work Roger , I forgot to say thank you for it. I spent a good few hours reliving those “videos” they never cease to amaze me. Some I saw almost 45 years ago some I only saw in the early days of the internet and still some only when YouTube came along. Thanks again Lagi

In Fact this is a computer version of professor Eric laithwaites mechanical explanation of how waves "move" without moving. from his lecture "magnetic river" https://youtu.be/OI_HFnNTfyU?t=609 I have linked to the actaul place in the video - but if you want to see a real man of science explain thing...

Re: 3D Cube
Hey xAction, Thanks - I haven’t been on that site a good few years - I have 2 copies of the dead trees version and that version you sent somewhere on my NAS drive - I still sometimes play with Richard Russell’s bbc basic for windows - to unwind and appreciate the no-bloat days. I try to get all my “...

Re: 3D Cube
I for one appreciate your work and did read and execute up to I think post 25 or so but have been very busy lately. So if you want some fun and some great ideas, here is a book I had a lot fun with years ago on my BBC (and Apple ][) - https://archive.org/details/practicalprogram0000john The programs...

I am runni9ng windows 10, indy 9.6.4, java 8 Initially I installed arctic fox (the latest) no go. Re: [Partially Solved]SDK root & JDK path: None
Ok so after a good few hours "Fun." I still get the dreaded not a valid SDK folder. I followed this thread https://www.forums.livecode.com/viewtopic.php?f=53&t=36114&sid=ab1efa3c9924035af8bf51eaf94be7eb&start=45 Which after all the tooing a froing leads to this link https://quality.livecode.com/...

Re: Edutainment Community Edition Build, planning thread
That was my point which I didn’t finish off - instant gratification is FUN, not printing hello in the console like in Python without using TKINTER or other badly integrated GUI addons. You can do the GUI stuff with livecode as well as scratch and logo and turtle graphics but you can’t write serious ...

Re: Edutainment Community Edition Build, planning thread
HI, Without giving away my life story the way I got into programming was from my interest in electronics (from a ladybird book at junior school - i was 9 or 10 - I still have the book). I then went on to build a computer - a Motorola 1Mhz 6800 with 1k of ram and a 32 by 16 black and white display bo...

Re: Edutainment Community Edition Build, planning thread
I would say as portmanteau words go, it’s a very nicely expresses the two blended concepts of education and entertainment (fun) in one succinct word. What’s to hate?

Re: Looking for testers for handler BMP3 Export
Hi Richmond, I saw the image in the forum digest - but I'm sure certain posts were removed so it still didn't make sense to me because the image to my mind was innocuous - but what do I know? - everybody has a different perception of the same information. All I know is that the code Alejandro posted...

Re: Looking for testers for handler BMP3 Export
Hi Richard, My post wasn't really about getting this tread back. This thread is what reminded me of s thought I had a long time ago. There is so much knowledge in the forums interspersed with so much "noise" that a dump of the "post" tables every so often could give us a database to extract say "eve...

Re: Looking for testers for handler BMP3 Export
Hi, If He has removed all his posts - and I'm too lazy to check - Why not give the communuty a dump of the SQL database so we can actually scan the data and create a useful knowledgebase. Sure is easier than scraping the forum. This is not just because of this episode - but a lot of good knowledge i...

HI Steve,
