Google Chrome and revWeb: Will they ever work?

Post by acidjazz » Thu May 20, 2010 1:44 am

It's been almost a year now. The runrev website claims that revWeb plugin works with Google Chrome. It does not. I realize that most rev users are also mac people (well, I assume), but surely someone else is frustrated by this? I'm almost glad about the Steve Jobs announcement because maybe they'll focus on products that they've already released and help them to work properly.

we should be patient. They seem to work hard :

May 2010
We are, however, making really good progress on the web-plugin and hope an improved version of this will debut before much longer. We are looking to ship 4.5 as soon as the improved web-plugin is ready.

And they are working on version 5 too. details here :

Aha! I should read the newsletter more closely. That said, they have claimed it would work since day one. I'm trying to teach a class using revMedia, and the only way to deploy is revWeb (well, there is the player, but that hasn't been updated in even longer). In any case, thanks Bangkok for noticing the announcement!

I think RunRev has had hard time with the iPhone saga. Eventhough it was interesting from a business and developpment point of view, I guess RevMobile consummed a lot of their ressources.

They understand now that the core of their users are desktop.

They still have great projects about version 5, and the fabulous (I'm a big fan) OnRev.

So, yes, it's not perfect, Linux people seem angry, personnaly I hate the poor text management in field objects, etc. the plugin is not finished (as a matter of fact, it's still a beta version..), same for OnRev.... but the point remains : RunRev is making progress.

It was already a nice tool at version 2.9, so I just wait 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 etc.... with great excitement.
:D
