When was it ever present in LiveCode?
Other than for compatibility? Never, apparently, but it would have been nice if it had been eh? :D

When was it ever present
Maybe never.

It would be interesting to know if it was ever implemented in MetaCard.

The LiveCode engine is the MetaCard engine, updated and expanded.

I don't believe any version of this engine supported that HyperCard syntax.

I can certainly tell you it is not in the index or reference in Mc, least not that I could find.

My iMac G5 running Mac OS 10.4 and Mac 9.2 is priceless as I can run HyperCard on it.

@Richmond

Since 'checkmark' is a reserved name we can not use it in LC. How would you name a pseudo property of the menus instead of 'checkmark'?

I am still refining a more generalized solution to the problem and sollicit input on how to name it.

Kind regards
Bernd

Had the way things were done in HyperCard card not been removed
all this long, complicated discussion would not have been necessary.

I assume (?) that the reason the HyperCard way was removed was for
a good reason . . . .
Yes. MC was compatible with SuperCard, HyperCard, and several flavors of 'nix, all of which handled menus differently. MC needed to work with all of them so implemented its own system.

well it is not a star. Mind you there are different ways to mark a menu item.

set the star of menuItem pItem of button xyz

sounds strange,

May be checksign?

Kind regards
