Always great to listen to Bill. Looks like I gave the wrong link by the way. The story about the Acid trip is around minute 22 here:

Hi All,
I suspect that previously we have discussed at length this same topic on the mail list
or this forum. In short, although Bill Atkinson attributes HyperCard to an acid trip,
the fact is that Apple have to pay royalties to Paul Heckel, the author of ZoomRacks:

Ah Al, thank you for the memory (2nd link, zoomracks). I still have one of those Atari machines but no zoomracks on it
Re: The acid trip that inspired Bill Atkinson to create HyperCard
Looks like Zoomracks is available on eBay:

The royalty payments have long since expired.

That is just a bit of "colour", or, possibly in Bill Atkinson's case "color."although Bill Atkinson attributes HyperCard to an acid trip
I have attributed great ideas I've had to dreams, divine revelation or
lying drunk in the bath: all far more interesting than just some idea
I had while I was staring mindlessly out of the window on the bus.

Bogs, Could you make a Zoomracks clone using LiveCode?

Here's a fairly good description of Zoomrack's functionality:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zoomracks
and these let you see what the thing looked like:
http://www.page6.org/archive/issue_23/page_20.htm
http://www.atarimania.com/utility-atari ... 32046.html
and download the software: mind you, you'll be a bit stuck unless you can shoehorn it into
an emulator.

Heh, well, for a while I was making this... From what I read in the descriptions of it, it sounds pretty limited though. I'd be far more fascinated making an Mc clone on Squeak, whose vm's apparently run nearly anywhere I'd be working (but not mobile ).

While making clones of software items from the past may be quite instructive as a
learning process I'm sure that is about as far as these sort of things go.
