Commercial product offer

Post by Markm49uk » Tue Dec 04, 2018 9:46 pm

Hello,

As part of the trial of the product I was offered a very tempting offer that included a full set of printed documentation including the entire Dictionary (two volumes) and another book encompassing over 400 lessons.

My question is regarding the Lessons volume - does anyone know if these are the same Lessons that are freely available on the LiveCode website here http://lessons.livecode.com/m/4071 ?

Can anyone advise if this is the case?

I would imagine the Lessons are like the Dictionary and other documentation: the value being provided is that they are printed versions of materials available online.

I can't imagine they'd invest the time to make 400 new Lessons without adding them to the Lessons site, but if anyone knows otherwise please chime in.

I think you are probably correct and having them in a printed format would indeed be a good benefit for LiveCode newcomers like me.

Out of interest, and without wishing to upset anyone, are the number of books available from Packt on LiveCode any good. I can't seem to find many reviews as such.

I have found that with all the programming languages I have learnt textbooks don't help
much: fiddling around oneself and talking to more advanced learners has always served me better.

In this respect the LiveCode Use-List and this Forum are invaluable.
