I there a way to be part of such a gathering remote. I live in the Netherlands and would like to see what is going on or even participate.

These are very informal meetings, usually including a meal. Not the most interesting thing on TV. :)

Better: Consider posting a note in the User Groups section here to see if you can find other folks to have a LiveCode gathering in your area..

I dunno, some of us might enjoy living vicariously through your informal meeting :D Maybe after the meal is over (since watching people eat might be considered rude) you guys could video the informal part and youtube it or something, then let the rest of us join in for the rest of the meeting, at least once

Who knows, it might be the next big hit ! (Well, among the Lc contingent, anyway)

Since I last wrote I've been in talks with a producer who works closely with several networks. He believes a reality TV format would be a big hit. He proposed the title "Real LiveCoders of Pasadena", where we actually live in the restaurant and form alliances among ourselves over variable naming convention habits. Each week we have a humiliating moment in which the attendees vote someone out of the restaurant, using a blend of code readability and efficiency as our criteria. He made a list of sponsors he felt would be excited about the show, including Amazon, Apple, and Bird's Eye Frozen Foods. To MC the show he started calling around to talent he's worked with, leaving messages for Leonardo Di Caprio and Beyonce.

But the next day he sobered up and scrapped the deal.

Well, if he sobered up, there is only one thing left to do. Send him down to the local 'Lefty Lucky' smoke shop and get him toked up till he comes back (away) from his senses, I hear that is legal there now :D
