The LC settings for launcnscreen sizes doesn’t match the Apple
requirements (see attached). I tried uploading the iPhone 6 plus size required
by Apple for launch screen, but LC won’t permit it, stating it isn’t the right
size. If I use the size LC requires, it works. BUT is the fact the launch screen
inclusions aren’t what Apple requires getting in the way of the viability of my
standalone?

Well, I don’t know enough to explain the discrepancy, but I can tell you that I have submitted iPhone apps using the dimensions LC states as correct without problems. Just had an iPhone updated app accepted today.

Re: iPhone splash screen sizes don't match Apple for IOS 10
The simulator with LC 8.1.1 only has testing for iPhone 5 using IOS 10. (Is there an iPhone 6 choice somewhere which I haven't been able to find?)The splash screen never shows, only the grotesque growing App icon. This is what happens if I delete the splash screen for my iPhone 6 plus and test on it. If I replace the launch screen, it's fine. Other iPhone 6 devices I've tested all show the growing App icon instead of the launch screen. I have the properly sized launch screen available, but still the problem. I'm hesitant to upload this to the App store, but need to do something since the app doesn't work with IOS 10 on iPhone.

Select "Devices" in the simulator, then choose iPhone 6, then click "Test" (in livecode).

Re: iPhone splash screen sizes don't match Apple for IOS 10
Problem solved. I love the Application Loader. I just tried uploading what I had to see what would happen, and it told me it needed a launch image size of 320x568 for the 4 inch iPhone 5 screen ( I previously successfully uploaded with 640x1136 in that spot) and an App icon of "exactly" 120x120 for iPod touch, which I already had successfully used for the previous version. So I created a new 120x120 for the iOS 7 Hi-Res iPhone spot, which the application loader accepted, as well as the new 320x568 launch image in the 4 inch iPhone spot, and Voila, it uploaded successfully. And testing shows no more grotesque growing app icon on launch.
