How about text to speech for Android?
I'm very happy being able to use LiveCodeSDK-R14 to do text to speech on LiveCode IOS.
I'm asking for a LiveCode genius to make a LiveCode SDK to do text to speech for Android.

Still waiting for it for iOS. (rrenarrator doesn't count)
This is why I have decided not to contribute to the crowdsourcing for HTML5.
Many of us are educators, and I particularly work with children and adults, and people with cerebral vascular accidents, with autism, special needs and I really need Text to Speech Support.
Mr. Miller's forward vision is needed to advance Livecode for the future, I understand it, but from the base, many of us need still basic and simple tools. Obviously better paint tools and Text-to-Speech are on my list, not HTML5.
So we still wait, and have my wife record words, now in the thousands, when I could have a Text-to-Speech function for iOS. Sad I still have a Spanish app that can't speak Spanish.
I'll contribute and support a crowdsourcing or kickstarted any day for Text-To-Speech!

Re: How about text to speech for Android?
Hi Scott,
Text-to Speech is also a priority for my work (I work with people with special needs).
It seems that is not possible to use voices installed on the device.
I believe each app needs an own voice. That means you can have several copy of the same voice...
I also hope the next IOS version will allow using voices installed on the device.
And also html5 that will be useful for our practices
Best regards
Jean-Marc

You might be able to use eSpeak. I have used it from the shell on windows, and it has been ported to Android, although I haven't tried it there yet.

I can get LiveCode text to speech to work on the iPad emulator. Are you saying that it doesn't work on a real iPad?
You geniuses at LiveCode could solve our text to speech dilemmas with a text to speech feature for all the devices that LiveCode develops for.

Hi lodijoe,
rrNarrator works ?
Good new. I can't believe it
I tried a lot with other versions without succes and I gave up
I hope the way coming is we can use the IOS resident text-to-speech
Anyway I am VERY interested to use rrNarrator
Can you confirm your tests on the real device ?
Best regards
Jean-Marc

Re: How about text to speech for Android?
I only have the emulator which does do text to speech with rrenarrator. I do not have a real iPad and I am asking Klaus and anyone else if LiveCode rrenarrator will work on a real iPad.
