The inexpensive word processor for Mac, Pages 09 has a table of contents creator but doesn't make an index.
I thought it would be fun to make a program that would make an index.
I remember in HyperCard, you could open Word Files and things. I'm guessing it might be possible to get RunRev to open a Pages WP file, look for words in the document, find the page numbers where they are, and then create an index.
I need to know then, how to open a Pages document, search inside, and gather and sort data. I hope it's possible. We Pages users would love to have an index feature that Apple has refused to add.
Ideas? If it's possible I think I would only need to know a few new things: how to launch Pages, how to look in and search and so on.
Thanks
Tom

Re: Want to Make an Index Maker
You can launch Pages from within LiveCode, but after that you can't control it. But you could use AppleScript to do the work, and have it return the results to your script.

I see. I guess I'll have to learn how to use applescript.
Thanks
