Making more use of GitHub Gists & promoting LiveCode
I've started putting my code snippets into public GitHub Gists.
GitHub makes this really easy to do and I was thinking that GitHub Gists would be a great way of sharing code snippets, and the same time others using GitHub Gists may be more likely to be exposed to LiveCode as the number of LiveCode gists increase.
LiveCode is as yet not recognized as a listable language by GitHub, so adding to the repository of gists with .livecode or .livecodescript would help LiveCode on its way to formal recognition.
I also realized that it would be useful to have a dedicated search tool for LiveCode gists and have uploaded GitHub Gist Search to the LiveCode Share.

I'm using this as a compiled app on Windows and for me I find it really useful.
What do you think?
Is this a better way to share snippets that LiveCode Share?
Is it a good way to promote LiveCode?

Nice Andy!
- I think it is a good idea
- Not better, equally good though at least
- "Any publicity is good publicity..." as they say, so I think 'yes'

Extra bonus points: sharing LiveCode on GitHub makes LiveCode more visible to the TIOBE bot as well, allowing better representation for LiveCode on their index of the world's 100 most popular languages:

Does this apply to gists as well as repositories?FourthWorld wrote: ↑Tue Aug 28, 2018 4:07 pmExtra bonus points: sharing LiveCode on GitHub makes LiveCode more visible to the TIOBE bot as well, allowing better representation for LiveCode on their index of the world's 100 most popular languages:

Re: Making more use of GitHub Gists & promoting LiveCode
Good question. TIOBE cites GitHub as a factor in their index, but i don't recall if they exclude what they find there by type. Not sure how it would benefit them if they did. Is there something about gist's that would make them less of an open portrayal of language use?
