Datagrid 2.0

Post by marksmithhfx » Sun Jul 02, 2017 6:55 pm

The data grid is one of the best features of Livecode... enabling so many data handling tasks in such effortless fashion. I am totally dependant on it. It would be nice to see it get a refresh. I'm all for the new campaign. I'm in for $100. If 249 other people join me we will have a new datagrid tool. Let's get 'er done!!

I also backed the data grid. I am just curious. Is Trevor going to do this? Or is it to be relegated to the team as a standard project?

This project is about more than just datagrids -- it will affect almost any animation inside a group. While I rarely have use for a datagrid itself, I have often been frustated by the inability to smoothly scroll a field positioned inside an enclosing group on mobile devices. I need this feature for almost every mobile app I create. I pledged early and I hope others do too, whether they use datagrids or not.

I wish they'd given the goal a different name, because those who don't use datagrids may not think it applies to them. The concept of "containers" for animation effects is wide-reaching.

I noticed towards the end Jacque that the marketing did become more focused on animation and smooth scrolling. I think they heard and responded to your call :)

I noticed the same thing. Anything else you want me to ask for? :-)

Good idea. LC could charge a percentage of every withdrawal. It's a win-win.
