LC 6.6 IDE keeps locking up at irregular intervals [solved]

Hi

I don't know if there's anyone else having this problem with LiveCode 6.6, but the IDE keeps locking up at irregular intervals.
I can be working on any project and then suddenly the IDE locks up on me. Each time I have to kill the LiveCode.exe process from Task Manager, although Task Manager doesn't display "not responding". I cannot give a recipe to reproduce the problem because it happens in any project at any time. It is *SUPER* FRUSTRATING!!
It doesn't happen in previous versions of LiveCode. It only happens with LiveCode 6.6.0. Does anyone else experience this in LiveCode 6.6.0, or is it me only?

This seems to be a common complaint with 6.6, I have rolled back to 6.5.2 and everything is working great.

I have had bug 11911 open for awhile. Initially, I thought it was just interaction with the application browser that was the genesis of my 6.6.0 IDE freezes, but since then, I discovered that my IDE has frozen on just about any type of interaction with the IDE environment.

Anybody that is experiencing IDE freezes, please feel free to add any information on your freezing experiences or information to that bug report.

Does it also happen in a standalone? Or is it an IDE problem only?

I've had no issues in this regard with any of my standalones built with 6.6.0gm1. IDE only. Also, none of my scripts are running or being triggered at all. Using 6.6.0gm1 (for me on Win7) with the 'suppress messages' icon locked and simply looking at code in the script editor or utilizing the application browser has caused numerous IDE freezes for me. I generally work with the application browser open and don't presently utilize the project browser. It also happens with the 'suppress messages' icon unlocked too, but I can say without doubt or reservation that it locks up when not a single line of my own script code has actually executed....I'm not debugging or running my scripts at all in the IDE...simply editing or just looking at objects/code. I should also add that I am not utilizing any 3rd party externals, libraries, or plugins.

same here. Might be an IDE problem:

All off a sudden LC "freezes". Sometimes I can close the current stack (w/o getting asked for saving), but the IDE menu/ tool palette etc. don't respond anymore. Switching to another program causes the screen to "clutter up" (parts of the IDE vanish, other stay visible on top of anything). Killing the process solves the problem.

Win 7-64 pro, with 6.6 as well as 6.6 RC1.

I haven't noticed a freeze-up in the IDE, but I'm on a Mac. Might it be a Windows-only issue?

I also see the freezes in Win standalones...

To be clear, I have not built a standalone for windows. I've only built for android and have not seen random freezes in my android app.

Malte, if you're seeing unexplained freezes in standalones for windows, could you add a comment as such to my bug report? (or possibly RR might want to treat unexplained windows standalone freezes as a separate bug since my report deals with the IDE?) It is bug 11911

I contacted the team directly. But any information will help. I see the freezes in the standalone app at not forseeable times. We had a testbuild of one of our apps running overnight (basically sitting idle, as my collegue just did not turn off the VM. This caused the whole app to "freeze" while doing nothing, with windows not being rendered anymore, either completely or partially.

In another app, it freezes mid work (while building a largish XML tree and updating a progress bar in the process). Only happens on Win as far as I can see. Not a problem on the Mac, Linux uintested as yet.

I take it back, my client just saw a screen freeze on a Mac. So it isn't limited to Windows apparently.
