Jacque.

Code: Select all

on selectionChanged
delete line word 2 of the clickline of the target
end selectionChanged
Yep. Clicking anywhere in a line essentially sets the cursor at that point, and that is a changed selection.

You can scroll the field while the "answer" dialog is open. Just make sure the field stays active when the dialog pops up.
No, you can't and now you are history!

Klaus.

Pretty harsh. Poor Kabiru was only being wrong after all. Even I did that once.

I think you missed his/her two other (highly meaningless) postings. 8)
And deep in my heart I'm a KILLER! :-D

After almost 20 years of moderating this and the german LC forum I can actually smell spammer from many miles afar!

Interesting.

But if a spammer, he/she/them knew enough about LC to post an erroneous, er, post.

Odd, no?

Klaus.

Rereading, there is an oddity, "...Just make sure the field stays active when the dialog pops up."

Such sloppy verbiage is not uncommon in life, but do you think this snippet came from a human (spam) or a "C" rated AI helper (bot)?

maybe, but this also shows that the person in question has never been working with LC.

From what I can see I think there are about 3 types of Spammers hereabouts:

1. Nothing but Руски!

2. Something that may tangentially make sense (i.e. in programming terms) but is not directly related to LiveCode.

3. "Buy my pink leopardskin posing briefs." + URL

#2 is the most difficult Spam to deal with, so Klaus's sixth sense is invaluable in this respect.

The risk is that rarely, a valid post by new user whose first language is not English may be deleted as spam. Not great on the very rare occasions this may happen.

I much prefer Richard's approach of asking them what they are building with LiveCode -- spammers never respond to this, then the whole thread can be deleted safely without the long series of comments that often follow a spam post of this type... and of course that user should be banned/deleted so they can't post more.

that's a good approach to spam moderation of dubious posts. If there is a certainty about the spam intent, I think it should be gone. In this case the spammer left no doubt (over several posts it became clear they were unwanted). Our moderators do a fine job here and I appreciate the effort, and am glad to see the back of the spammy posts.
Herzlichem Dank, Klausimausi
