Package Appears To Be Corrupt

Post by Dagunster » Sat Apr 21, 2018 9:26 pm

Got the above message on the first attempt to deply an APK to my Samsung tablet.

Particulars:
LiveCode 9.x Community
Installed the Android Studio.
Set the Android SDK folder, Live Code accepted it. And LiveCode found my Java 8 installation.
Made a quick LiveCode program with two cards, a button on each card, each button going to the other card.
Built it.
Works just fine on my Windows desktop.
Took the APK and dropped it into the download folder on the Android.
Tried to install it.
Got the error Package Appears To Be Corrupt.

I'm stumped.

What happens if in the Android standalone settings you choose "sign for development only"?

Does (jacque's response in) this thread shed any light?

Sign for development only? What is that?

Ooh. Signing. Got it.
That made it install. :D
And it runs on the tablet.
Now there are other issues, but that is a different topic.
Thanks
