using twilio sdk for an iOS app?
Hi,
I am planing to develop an VoIP iOS app and use Twilios SDK.
My question is where I can find information how to integrate/implement the twilio SDK.
I also wonder if LiveCode is the right tool for this or if Objective C or PhoneGap could be better to use? I have not been impressed by the sluggish apps in App store.
My requirements is:
- be possilbe to use in iPhone 5 with iOS 7
- be able to use twilio iOS SDK´s voip functionality or twilio´s js SDK (if it is possible to wrap a browser that supports RTC in the code?)
- be able to integrate billing such as in-app payment or paypal with zooz or similar
- communicate with REST API´s such as Amazon S3 or a node.js server
- store temporary info in a SQLLite db when app is off line
- make fast and responsive views (file listings etc) is very important
- create cfuuid´s
I have seen several Twilio projects that use PhoneGap but none that are using LiveCode. How is the support for iOS 7? I can only find old iOS examples from 2011 and in this forum I can´t find anything (bad search function maybe or a feature).
I am also evaluating Objective C, PhoneGap and Appery.io.
I have already built an iOS VoIP app in Objective C, but I want to be able to release it on several platforms also such as for Android and build a HTML5 app, without redoing everything.
By the way I am more of an object oriented CLI coder (linux/OSX) than a drag and drop GUI coder and hate when a UI hides the code in different fields and windows (i also can´t watch instruction videos, to slow, i´m not that patient). But I want to give it a try and see if I can endure.
Happy coding and thanks in advance for any feedback,
Göran

Here is my two cents worth..
Everything you list in your requirements is achievable through LiveCode but your external SDK will need to be implemented by way of a LiveCode External.
The External SDK for andoird is very green at the moment so you may need to check into exactly how it fits with Android currently, I suggest checking out the Open Source Forum/Engine contributors thread.
BTW, if you are looking for a well put together IOS App that has been built using LiveCode take a look at 'Nine Square' ...

Re: using twilio sdk for an iOS app?
Ok, thanks for your insight!
I think I will start my development by first building the native iOS 7 Twilio VoIP example app, that way I learn the ins and outs of Twilio on iOS 7 and can then make a decision and choose a path forward - native, LiveCode, PhoneGap or Appery.io.
Regards,
Göran

No, got a new customer, and have been busy starting up the project.
