mergPop crash on simulator

Adding the latest version of mergPop (2.0.21) to my app causes it to crash on startup in the iPhone simulator 8.2 & LC 6.7.6
Actually it also happens using the older version 2.0.20. And to narrow it down further, only on devices >= iPhone 5s.
Anyone else seen this?
