iOS 8 Support and New Features
Dear LiveCoders
Today I'm releasing updates for all the mergExt iOS externals to support iOS 8. In addition there are a number of new features released today.
- mergCL now includes geocoding and reverse geocoding commands and a distance between coordinates function.
- mergMK now has commands to get and set annotation attributes and extra annotation options and messages
- mergFTPD adds a FTP daemon to an app with one command which makes if very easy to manage a directory of files from the desktop version of your app or just from a regular FTP client.
With the addition of mergFTPD (sold separately for $9) mergExt Complete is amazing value with $913 worth of individual products for one price of $299.
I have also updated rrehardcopy for iOS 8. Unfortunately rrenarrator doesn't want to build in Xcode 6 and I don't want to take on maintenance of that external because of the quirky open source license it's distributed under I would need to rename it like I did with rremicrophone. When RunRev release a fix for rrenarrator I will re-include it in my build process to save people having to build it themselves.
Cheers
Monte

Re: iOS 8 Support and New Features
Hi Monte:
Do you know which versions of LC and XCode do we need to compile for iOS 7.1 and iOS 8 and be approved by the App Store?
If we use MergMK 2.1.2 our apps will be backward compatible with iOS 7?
Regards!

Re: iOS 8 Support and New Features
It's usually best to build against the newest SDK so use Xcode 6 but in standalone settings you can choose 7 or 6 as the deployment target.

Re: iOS 8 Support and New Features
Hi Monte,
Just updating an App for IOS8 tonight and have downloaded 6.6.5 (Latest GM) and Xcode 6.1 (Latest GM) and the latest of your externals.
Unfortunately I am getting an error when I try to run the App in the Simulator stating that lC could not find appropriate builds of your externals for 8.1
(The externals my App uses are mergPOP, mergNotify, mergSettings and mergReader)
Also, this is not your issue but the App wont even start in the Simulator.
Get, error..."Unable to start Simulator, unable to run app in Simulator"
Cheers
Kia

Re: iOS 8 Support and New Features
FYI If I remove the externals from the copy files pane the App at least opens in the Simulator.
Looks like something may be a miss with the Externals and IOS8.1?

Re: iOS 8 Support and New Features
There's no builds for 8.1 of the external yet so build against Xcode 6 until I release updates. RunRev surprised me by releasing 6.6.5 without any public testing...

Re: iOS 8 Support and New Features
Hi,
Are there still no builds for iOS8.1 yet? My app still crashes on launch in 8.1 and clients now getting frustrated (close to irate).
Thanks bud

Re: iOS 8 Support and New Features
The current build are for iOS 8.1. Have you opened a ticket or emailed me about this? I thought I was on top of reports.
