Hi Larry,

Welcome to the forum.

What error message is appearing when you try to deploy your stack to the iOS simulator?

Also, if possible, could you let us know what version of Mac OSX, LiveCode and Xcode you are using and we should be able to advise further.

Kind Regards,

Hi Larry,

This would suggest that the SDK is missing from your install of XCode. There have been discussion of other users experienicg this issue on stack overflow posts-

http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1675 ... einstalled

With the recommend solution of removing Xcode and re-installing it from the Mac App Store.

It is worth noting that Xocde 5.1 will be the version downloaded from the Mac App Store and this is compatible with the latest version of LiveCode 6.6.(RC2)

This is not what I was told on Monday when I was unable to install 5.1 sdk. Before I download from the app store for the THIRD time, I would like to be sure you have more current information on xcode 5.1 compatibility than this:

Hi Larry,

check this, LC is currently not compatible with Xcode 5.1:

Hi Larry,

LiveCode 6.6 (RC2) is compatible with Xcode 5.1.

Klaus is correct when he mentions the latest stable release of LiveCode is not compatible (6.5.2) but we are always updating our product to ensure compatibility.

We release DP (Developer previews), RC (Release Candidate) and GM( Golden Masters) with RC versions being very close to GM so you should not expect any issues.

If you do experience any problems with 6.6.(RC2) please report these to our Quality Control team at

Hi Neil,

I have versions 6.6.0.4003

I don't see any reference to RC2, the updater says I have the most recent version.

HI Roddy,

LiveCode 6.6 became GM on Friday of last week and build 4003 means that you have this most up to date and stable version.

A list of all available LiveCode downloads can be found on our downloads repository here-

I had this same issue.

The problem is when you update Xcode (aka from 5.0 to 5.1) apple decided that all older sdk's and simulators are out dated and thus should be deleted.

So when I updated my Xcode it deleted all my prvious simulators and SDK's and thus made live-code break. Lucky I backed up my 5.0 Xcode so I fixed it by pointing to the old Xcode app. Then my simulators and SDK's where back in place.

Hope this helps!

Hi Bobisback,

Yes this is a strange behaviour that occurs when you update to the latest version of Xcode (one that has caught me out a few times)

What I do to get around this is place all of my older Xcode’s in a separate directory and then upgrade. This seems to stop them from being automatically deleted during the upgrade process.

Hi,

I am still having this problem. I have deleted XCode and re-downloaded both versions a couple times. I have put one and both versions into a separate folder. It is still not working. Any other suggestions?

Thanks

Hi alohagigi,

Thank you for your request.

If possible could you provide the following information and we should be able to get you up and running-

- LiveCode Version (LiveCode 6.6.* required for Xcode 5.1+)
- Xcode Version (You mention bother versions, the new version from the App store should be enough to enable you to build iOS apps)
- Mac OSX version
- ScreenShot/Text of error that occurs.

Kind Regards,

Aloha,

Here are the details. Please let me know what else I can do. I attempted to do this several times and restarted the computer after I deleted all programs before reloading the programs.

- LiveCode Version (LiveCode 6.6.* required for Xcode 5.1+) - have most recently downloaded 6.6.rc2 - (as referred to in the blog strand)

- Xcode Version (You mention bother versions, the new version from the App store should be enough to enable you to build iOS apps) - I have downloaded first 4.4 into a sepearte old xcodes folder. Then I downloaded 5.1 xcode into application folder.

- Mac OSX version - 10.9.2

- ScreenShot/Text of error that occurs. - See screenshots.

Please let me know what else I can do.
Thanks

Hi alohagigi,

Thank you for supplying the requested information.

I believe what is happening is that LiveCode is defaulting the iOS 5.1 simulator of Xcode 4.4 and this is causing this error as when I try to test to this simulator, I recieve the same "Could Not Find SDK" error that you are experiencing. As this is the case, please remove Xcode 4.4 from your mobile preferences and only link Xcode 5.1.

Once this is linked, and you have a stack open, please make sure that the test target menu shows only the default iOS 7.1 simulators. Now, when you select the appropriate simulator and press test...it should deploy without any issues.

If the issue persists, you may need to open Xcode 5.1 once for its installation to complete. Once it is open, you can immediately close it and attempt to deploy from LiveCode again.

I also see that you are using an RC version of LiveCode. I would recommend updating to either the stable version of 6.6 or the stable version of 6.6.1 which will be released at some point today. This just ensures that there is no underlying issues causing more problems.

Please keep us posted on how you get on with the above.

Kind Regards,

Aloha,

I just did this and it works!! Thank you.

I will also update to the 6.6.1 stable version when it is released.

I was wondering will this be problem if I want to build an app that works on older iPads?

Have a great day!
Thanks
