For me LC dictionary is a vital tool, and I have been worried because I have not been able to launch the dictionary in the stable Linux LC 8.1.6 version.
So I am thrilled because Tiny Dictionary seems to work for me. It is available at
http://livecodeshare.runrev.com/stack/8 ... Dictionary
in LiveCode menu sequence Edit -> Preferences -> Files & Memory -> User Extensions presented a curious link to someone else's Windows machine. My attempts to correct the link did not lead to a working solution.
But I was able to install the plug-in in the location
/home/username/.runrev/components/livecodecommunity-8.1.6.x86_64/Plugins
Huge thanks to Bernd Niggemann for Tiny D!

Bernd and the rest of the guys really did do a great job on that dictionary. It will certainly work from the place you put it, but I'm curious why your user extensions would point to a windows machine on a linux box, generally speaking it should default to '/home/user_name/my_livecode', alternately you should be able to click the ellipses and choose any folder to place it.

Max's dictionary also is quite nice I use it in Lc7 quite frequently myself.

Re: Tiny Dictionary and Plug-ins Folder in LC 8.1.6 for Linux Ubuntu 16.04
Hi Jorma,
thanks for your kind words.
the problem of installing tinyDictionary as a plugin is a Livecode problem, not a tinyDictionary problem.
Beginning with LC 8.2.0 DP2 the Livecode way to organize the dictionary data has changed.
This leads to missing LiveCode Builder entries in the current tinyDictionary version.
I have a version ready that corrects for that in a backwards compatible fashion and just want to wait for the next DP to test against it and then I will update tinyDictionary on LivecodeShare.
Kind regards
Bernd
correction the version that changed the organization of the dictionary is LC 8.2.0 DP2
Sorry I have the flu right now
