What's the current status of the Linux/ARM build for Raspberry Pi?

Hi Richard,

Am I allowed to say 'pending' for the moment?

The 64-bit changes that @ricochet1k and @mwieder have been working on will help some way to integrating the work I did a while ago on a rough Raspberry Pi build. It might still be a while before I can push those into the main branch, but they are on my list to do in due course.

Warmest Regards,

Mark.

Thanks for the update, Mark.

Would it be realistic to expect a test build in August? I have something in the works for September which could really use the Linux/ARM engine.

If it's too early to say, that's fine too. As you know, it's always better to have a vague estimate that's realistic than a precise one that isn't. :)

That's an intriguing teaser... :)

I had a look at what it would take to do proper ARM builds and decided i had other things to deal with.

I'm hoping to have some time after the conference to merge the Raspberry Pi changes into 'develop' which is at least the first step... Actually *building* the engine for that platform is a little more tricky as it involves cross-compiling against the a raspbian SD-card image. I'm hoping it will be easy enough to derive a pre-canned collection of headers and libs from such a thing though so that the hoops anyone needs to jump through to build for that platform is minimal.

Ack! I forgot about the SD-card thing.
And 64-bit ARM processors are just around the corner.
