Setting position of Carousel

Hi all -
I'd be ever so grateful if someone could let me know how I could set the position of the Carousel by script.
I'm using the carousel as a menu and I'd like to store a variable of where the user was in the carousel before jumping to a new card. Then, on the return to the carousel card, I'd like to preset to the previous position. If that's possible, I'd appreciate you letting me know how to do it.
