Looking to store components in a container - will rgrid work for that?

I am working on a sort of little editor of sorts and want to store buttons, text fields and the like in a container - just like Livecode's tool bar, but with less choices.
Would rgrid be good for this or do I need something else to act as a container where users can drag and drop items onto (at this point) a tab control?
