Re: Dangerous Message !!
We are aware of this
Google's Safe Search feature (which is used by Chrome, Safari and Firefox) uses reports from multiple virus scanning firms to determine if a site is potentially serving dodgy software.
Unfortunately, one of the LiveCode installers has been flagged by a virus scanner as containing malware - but this is a false positive (as happens from time to time). All the installers available from downloads.livecode.com are the original, untampered ones we build.
We have made all the necessary steps to resolve the problem - but now just have to wait.
If you have need to download LiveCode installers we recommend logging into your LiveCode account and accessing them from there - we've changed where downloads are served from in that location.
Unfortunately, if we want our downloads.livecode.com page to stop being so scary - we have to leave it as it is (until Google realizes there isn't actually anything wrong!)
Sorry for the inconvenience!

Yipes.
I hope this does not engender anything harmful to LC itself.

Re: Dangerous Message !!
The problem about that is that one may start to distrust Google safe browsing
elsewhere.

One wonders, as well, how long that will persist until Google finally work out that they've got something
wrong, and so, like so many other thing, we don't have to employ a work around to download something.

Re: Dangerous Message !!
Until we find a more efficient structure than Bloom filters, there will always be false positives.
https://stackoverflow.com/questions/184 ... oom-filter
https://www.pcmag.com/news/false-positi ... us-ratings
The worst part of Google's warning message is that it claims a certainty that it cannot have given the nature of Bloom filters. One would think a tech giant like Google would understand the tradeoffs of the structures they choose.

Re: Dangerous Message !!
Well, quite obviously nothing is being done about this problem.
I am surprised that LiveCode have apparently not contacted Google to sort this out.
I, also, see that the Download page no longer allows downloads without logging into the LiveCode website.
So, contrary to what I learnt in my Maths class at school, two negatives do not make a positive.

Mark has written that he's already taken the steps needed to resolve this.richmond62 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 03, 2023 9:51 pmWell, quite obviously nothing is being done about this problem.

How quickly have you been able to get Google to update their warning table derived from third-party data during the holiday season?

Re: Dangerous Message !!
Google are, supposedly entirely secular.
Just imagine:
No work on Wednesday (for the Buddhists),
No work on Friday (for the Muslims),
No work on Saturday (for the Jews),
No work on Sunday (for the Christians),
And I am quite sure, with a bit of effort we could
find some religious groups who go for
Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday in a big
way.
Certainly the Bulgarian Orthodox calendar has an
excuse not to work on every day of the year; so it is
a very good thing only a few monks and nuns (who,
by definition, contribute nothing to society) take
anything seriously.

Cowabunga!
https://downloads.livecode.com/livecode/
is now accessible without the seriously scary red screen!
Mind you, I cannot understand why you have to login to download an installer, when, if
you don't own a licence, the thing won't work anyway.

Re: Dangerous Message !!
That's weird - I've never had to login to downloads.livecode.com/livecode, and neither can I see controls for logging in or out, making it doubly (triply?) unlikely.richmond62 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 17, 2023 2:44 pmMind you, I cannot understand why you have to login to download an installer, when you don't own a licence, the thing won't work anyway.
You also can't download the account-bound extras like Server there either, just the IDE installers for each platform, which as you say all require an account.
I was (and still am) under the impression it is open access?
